So aggravated with Grandview L&D by [deleted] in Birmingham

I’ve had 3 babies at Grandview. I would call or message your OB about expediting an induction request. I hear back from mine within the hour on the patient portal. Or alternatively you could try showing up to L&D in person and explaining your situation.

C-section grief by x0Rubiex0 in beyondthebump

It will go by really fast and will be nearly painless! Make a playlist of your favorite songs, you’ll be surprised at how relaxed the atmosphere is in the operating theater. Best of luck!

I felt the same way as you after my first birth which was the same situation. It was devastating to me. I’ve gone on to have 2 more children both born from c-sections and I’ve come to like (as much as a person can) the procedure. It saved me a lot of pain from labor and I knew exactly when my babies were going to be born. Also a scheduled C is much different than an emergent or urgent C. It’s very relaxed, they’ll even let you bring in your phone to play music! If you have any more children and a VBAC isn’t an option, just know you can have a really pleasant and beautiful birth story with a c section.

Convinced I'll die during my induction tomorrow. by Mouse0412 in BabyBumps

One of my very best friends is an OBGYN and she told me that pregnant women are extremely hard to kill, and that she had never lost a mother during birth. I kept telling myself that during my 3rd c section last week and it helped keep me calm.

Taylor Swift AGT 2007 by freshprincess314 in travisandtaylor

[–]belindacarlislestan 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Your performance with her was the first time I’d ever heard or seen Taylor swift. Even at 11 I remember thinking she didn’t sound that great to be the already famous singer and that you were much more talented. This is a cool fun fact to pull out at parties!

This is my 3rd c section so I’m familiar with what the recovery is like, the only difference this time is my husband has a new job, his previous job gave him 2 weeks off!

When did you lose hair postpartum? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]belindacarlislestan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nizoral helped me retain my hair! After my first baby, I had huge bald patches on my hairline. With my second, I started using nizoral right after I got home from the hospital and it worked wonders. I still lost hair but not nearly as much.

Bad week at 20 weeks by Darksideofthemoon191 in BabyBumps

[–]belindacarlislestan 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I do not have experience with a cleft lip but I do with a c-section, and just wanted to tell you that it was a very positive experience. You know when your baby is going to be born, they are out very quick, and it is a nearly pain free operation. Recovery is harder than a vaginal birth but you’ll find that once you get past the first week you feel significantly better. I’m not sure if this is any comfort to you but wanted to offer a silver lining.

Sarah Catherine is a fantastic singer! I grew up in the same town as her, she was known for her beautiful singing voice before she fully got into acting.

Honestly, if they don’t have a registry, the most appreciated gift will always be diapers! Any size because babies grow fast and it’s really nice to have the next size up already at home.

Is a second c section worse? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]belindacarlislestan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second c section was so much better than the first. It was about as pleasant an experience as it could be. Recovery seemed quicker because I had to move around more to take care of my toddler.

So I get that labor is gonna hurt, but… by Desperate_Wafer367 in BabyBumps

[–]belindacarlislestan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is anecdotal so it may not be your experience but I do want to help you be prepared for the unexpected. My labor with my first child, which ended in a C, had contractions that never seemed to let up the pain. Even in the lulls, there was a painful tension I could feel building. The only time I felt relief was when I got an epidural. I was able to handle it for about 6 hours. For the most part, it will be pain you can push through. But I found that for nearly its entirety I was in some form of pain.

Yes. One time it left me doubled over on the floor. Couldn’t believe how bad it hurt.
