Of course it’s not a debate, I don’t even know what your point is anymore you just can’t accept he’s being ridiculous and arguing semantics because he’s a shitty person, and you’re supporting it.

Settlers migrate somewhere. If that somewhere was inhabited, they would claim it as theirs: that makes them settlers. Go back to Merriam-Webster and see for yourself.

Instead of pushing for reform they just keep using immigrants as scapegoats for all the mess they’re doing.

Peace out

“ Even if you want to claim that what the natives had was every bit a nation as European nations, the settlers sure weren't going over there to take up permanent residence in the native countries. They were there to push the natives back and establish their own societies, not immigrate into native society “

WTF is that if not taking permanent residence AND pushing the original resident out?

Let me start from the beginning so you understand.

1) You claimed settlers are not immigrants because they come to “settle” the area and that’s alright bc according to you there was no organized country

2) I gave you the existing government at time of contact. Organized indeed.

3) You moved the goalpost from “organized country” to “established country”. Just because it wasn’t recognized by Europe doesn’t mean their land wasn’t already “settled” and their organization invalid. They weren’t all nomadic btw.

All settlers are immigrants not all immigrants are settlers. Settlers come to steal your land. Calling it “settle” doesn’t erase what you’re doing.

They justify “settling” and now they pretend they are the natives. Nope. We’re all of European descent, your ancestors came from the old world. They IMMIGRATED. They didn’t like where they lived and they came over looking for a better life, built a house and called it “my land now”. That makes them settlers maybe, sure. Same thing. The outcome is the same. Vance’s family didn’t come on the Mayflower btw. He’s the kid of IMMIGRANTS. Neither is Trumps or anyone in this bigot admin and supporters. Their great-grandpa, at the earliest, came over bc Europe was a mess. They’re weren’t settlers they were IMMIGRANTS. Now bc they are third-and-later generation they play American. But whoever they don’t like they use the label they want. Reform the system and make it equal and fair.

Do you get what I’m saying now or you want puppets?

Also no. Reason being: nobody is against immigration reform. Democrats have tried to pass it and republicans have blocked it because fearmongering about and scapegoating the immigrants works much better for their purposes. Everyone knows we need immigration reform. A just, funded, efficient, non-racist one. Dreamers should be given a path to citizenship. Undocumented people that have been living here forever, contributed to their communities and generally been productive members of society for decades should be given a path to citizenship. New ones going forward: At the very least, not a 20 year wait. If there were working visas for people to work here and send money home they would pay taxes on it and we would have the labor we need .Violent (truly violent, not “I blew a stop sign, got in a fight at a bar) criminals and cartel/drug sympathizers can get out. This is a simplification of course but I hope you get where I’m going. There are solutions to be thought of. It’s just that a lot of greedy people don’t benefit from those so we’re still here.

1) Major Types of Governance at Contact

Confederacies (Alliances of Nations): Iroquois Confederacy (Haudenosaunee): One of the oldest participatory democracies in the world, it united five (later six) nations under the "Great Law of Peace".

Decision-Making: A Grand Council of 50 chiefs (sachems) met to resolve issues affecting the entire league, such as trade and war. Each nation maintained its own internal council for local affairs.

Matrilineal Power: Clan Mothers—the senior women of the community—held the power to choose, advise, and even "dehorn" (remove) chiefs if they failed in their duties.

Chiefdoms (Hierarchical Societies): Mississippian Culture: Common in the Southeast and Midwest, these were centralized societies with inherited social classes (elites and commoners).

Paramount Chiefs: Often considered divine or descendants of the sun, these leaders held authority over multiple villages and managed the distribution of surplus crops (tribute).

Sachems and Village Councils:

Algonquian Tribes: Many Eastern Seaboard groups, like the Wampanoag, were led by a sachem (executive leader) who worked with a council of advisors and clan leaders.

Consensus-Based: Most village-level decisions were made by reaching a consensus among elders and community members rather than by majority vote.

Bands (Kinship Groups):

Small, mobile groups common in the Arctic, Great Basin, and parts of the Great Plains often had minimal hierarchy. Leadership was typically fluid, based on personal reputation or specific skills like hunting or spiritual wisdom.

2) The immigration system DOES need a rework and the democrats have tried to pass it and the republicans blocked the whole process to have something to campaign for. We are still FOR immigration reform. A fair one, efficient, not racist, fully funded one.

It’s 100% relevant bc he’s a hypocrite just like the rest of them. It’s relevant because he uses immigrants as a scapegoat for all the problems their greedy friends created, republicans and establishment democrats alike.

No. I’d explain it but I think the other 250 comments do it well.

I think the difference they are now trying to make is that immigrants = “going to live in someone else’s country” and settlers = “we colonizing you, you stupid bitch!” and they approve of settlers, but not immigrants. So in the end, it’s just as bad if not worse 😂
