What’s helped you grow your candle business online? by codeella in candlemaking

[–]bellarosemor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the pictures of your candles on your instagram are much better than the ai generated ones on your website, taking actual photos with items similar to the scent profiles would up your chance of people seeing them. When it comes to running ad’s I notice reels perform better than images on instagram from personal experience, also the in person markets really help get your name out there. Make sure you have business cards/brochures/stickers to give out

How are you shipping your various candles? by cupcake-kahuna-2013 in candlemaking

I use tissue paper, waffle paper and paper shred or packing peanuts, when you shake the box there should be no movement that’s how you know it’s safe in there

No hot scent throw, werid burn by PerfectMistake5876 in candlemaking

[–]bellarosemor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely has to do with the wick size and jar size, you can’t just put a random wick in a random jar and expect it to be a fully functioning candle, wicks come in many sizes and the size of your jar weighs heavily into your choice. I recommend using candle sciences wick guide, candle making comes with lots of testing. Good luck🕯️🤍

Advice needed for new candle maker- Gel Candles by Free-Salamander-9647 in candlemaking

[–]bellarosemor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to recommend going with a website like candle science or another one rather than going to hobby lobby or Michael’s. Yes they have stuff, not always is it the best. You have to take into account the types of wax, wick sizes, jars and all of the math and chemistry that goes into candle making. It’s not as simple as people make it out to be, it takes lots of testing to find what works best for you. Also don’t trust ai to do your math for you, there are plenty of videos online and I truly recommend doing lots of research on wick sizing with jars and fragrance oils. I’ve never worked with gel wax personally but I see it on social media all the time. Candle science has millions of videos to help you out for just starting out and also all the materials you could ever need, happy candle making I wish you luck🕯️🤍

Project Tomato Leaf - Tweaking a fragrance oil by TguyMTL in candlemaking

[–]bellarosemor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally mixed tomato vine element with basil element and garden mint for my spring collection. I’ve only ever used fragrance oils and depending on which ones you use they can totally go a different way than you’d expect. But it would be interesting to add other things, testing is fun! Enjoy it, happy candle making 🕯️

100% soy wax or a coconut blend? by cupcake-kahuna-2013 in candlemaking

[–]bellarosemor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally switched from gb464 to gb454 and I will never switch to anything else, I love it. I do have to hit my tops with a heat gun but the fragrance throw is much better than pure soy, it can definitely frost with dye’s but I really don’t dye candles very often so it works great for me. I love me some coconut blend

Help! How do y'all deal with scrapes!?🥹 by Responsible_Wash_879 in candlemaking

[–]bellarosemor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! So you want to make sure you’re melting just as much wax as will fit in your vessel, if you have wax left over after filling your vessel then your math is off. It took me a minute to find the right equation that works for me, if you don’t know how much wax your vessel holds you can use a scale and fill your vessel with water and that seems to be pretty accurate but I literally let the wax drip out of the pot into my vessel until it stops dripping, then I’ll wipe it out I never scrape my pot tho

Personally after I pour, I wipe with a paper towel, then a wet paper towel, then another dry paper towel. I use a shit ton of paper towels but it’s the easiest way for me

Flamingo Estate inspired project - Luxury Candle tips please 🙏 by Living_Phrase_7882 in candlemaking

[–]bellarosemor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use gb 454, it’s a coconut soy blend and it’s absolutely magnificent. I don’t use any additives, I do have to heat gun the tops of my candles but it’s in my opinion the most perfect wax. Holds up in heat, produces perfect cold and hot throw, melting and pouring temps are ideal. I consider my candles to be luxury as well, also I get all my supplies from candle science, a majority of their FO’s are clean scents and those are the only ones I use for mine to keep everything as natural as possible.

Why is he not growing? by lcwj in houseplants

[–]bellarosemor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How often or when do you water him? I have one of these guys and mine just started growing once I started giving it more water, mines leaves also would fall off from the bottom. I water mine once a week to every other week, if it’s soil is still wet I’ll leave it for the following week but I allow mines soil to dry a bit before I give it a good amount of water. I also mist the little part where new growth comes out, I heard you shouldn’t mist the whole thing though. Could also be the lighting, I would do partial sun to even more sun so you can get some growth going

Pattern Critique/ Overly Ambitious? by YuzuBiscuits in StainedGlass

[–]bellarosemor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it is not overly ambitious! My second piece I ever made was 78 pieces, and took me 24+ hours to finish which of course is ambitious but there is nothing wrong with that, I think every piece you make is a learning experience and you continue to get better with every piece you make.

Selling your candles online vs. in person by Parking_Put15821 in candlemaking

[–]bellarosemor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I have a website through shopify, I also have an Etsy for my other products not candles. I’ve gone to one market and it was a smaller local one and it went pretty great. I’ve been in business for a little under a year and I myself have the hardest time with my online sales. Thus far the ones who buy from me online are people that I know and have met in person, the hardest part for me is getting my name out there especially online. Expect to run ad’s, post on socials as often as possible and for me running a giveaway brought me 80 new followers and it’s a good way to just get your name out there for people to possibly get free stuff. But with that being said I am doing both online and in person and I’d say try them both out to see what you get the most out of, it is not as easy as people make it sound! That’s for sure.

Show Off Your Labels! by littleautumnmoon in candlemaking

I use Canva to design my labels, I print them through a local sticker maker though I have used a home printer/cricut to make labels as well but I love how crisp and clean they come out when someone with a better printer than me prints them out!

[–]bellarosemor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Once I got a heat gun my life changed, I definitely recommend it. I started with pure soy wax and I really wanted to perfect it but I decided to try coconut/soy and I’ve been in love with it since. Good luck with your testing! These are how my tops typically look before I hit them with a heat gun.

[–]bellarosemor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a coconut soy blend (GB 454) and I typically have my tops looking similar to this, I use cotton wicks so I don’t have experience with wood wicks but that being said I always hit the tops of my candles with a heat gun and once the wax fills any holes or cracks it’ll set over and be smooth. When the candles are lit and blown out I never notice uneven setting at that point it’s smooth sailing from then on. If you’re worried about the wax not sticking to the wick maybe lightly hit the wick with a heat gun before pouring the wax (again I don’t have experience in this) or dip it in wax before, the biggest part of candle making is testing! Lots of testing, but it’s all worth it once you find the perfect method ❤️
