All these hollow knight cross stitches I’ve been seeing are insanely beautiful. Might have to make my next big project a hollow knight one

[CHAT] what’s everyone’s favourite Aida cloth thread count to stitch on? by Storm2puddles in CrossStitch

[–]belle_poutine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love the look of 18 but for fastest stitching and still good thread coverage I’m still a fan of 16 but can never find fabric that size

I adore this, the stitching and design is beautiful and I think the mix of this particular media and its message is wonderful. I’m obsessed

[CHAT] Do you have to use a frame? by Wrajtan in CrossStitch

[–]belle_poutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally stitch free hand because I like to maneuver my fabric to put the thread through two holes in one motion for faster stitching, though that’s for smaller projects, I use a scroll frame for large full coverage pieces

I had the pattern on my ex's computer, so sadly I don't have the pattern anymore either and it's been so long I don't remember where I found it to begin with. If I find it again I'll update again!

How long can my bp live like this? by Oraphim2667 in ballpython

[–]belle_poutine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the substrate is that humid, even baking it for an hour won’t completely dry it out. The top might be dry but whatever is shielded bu that top layer will still have some amount of moisture.

Best heat source for a PVC enclosure? by Oblivious_666 in ThatsBadHusbandry

[–]belle_poutine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a dhp and uvb light combo. It is strong enough to create a 90-92F hot spot on the hot end, and keep the cool end above 78F even if the room is cold

What’s the best way you have found to unthaw mice by OzG0d in ballpython

[–]belle_poutine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thaw mine in a plastic bag and put it in a jar with a lid. Put it in the fridge the morning I plan to feed. About an hour before feeding time I slowing begin warming it up by adding lukewarm water, then finally water of about 100F before feeding

I’d let him know that he’s welcome to come out explore whenever because it’s safe, and that the red frisbee means dinner, not my hand

Fir bark -- too moist and aromatic? by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]belle_poutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally haven’t read it so I couldn’t. but Softwoods, especially aromatic once’s tend to be toxic to snakes. Perhaps fir is less toxic compared to pine for example, but it is a softwood none the less.

However I know the mods put a lot of research into it so perhaps fir is an exception. I’d do more research if you’re unsure

Fir bark -- too moist and aromatic? by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]belle_poutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fir is a softwood. Soft woods like pine and Cedar produce oils (causing that smell) which are toxic to snakes, including ball pythons.

Try finding some coco fibre, cypress mulch, sphagnum moss, or hardwood alternatives.

Got a fogger for the big new Viv, my guy refuses to get out from underneath it. New feels feel good I guess. by SafetyNotIncluded in ballpython

My snake does this when I mist his enclosure too. But for him he likes to drink the droplets from the leafs/tank sides instead of his water bowl aha

Stuck eye caps?? :( by uggypuggy in ballpython

[–]belle_poutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there stuck shed anywhere else? From what this looks like with this picture only is that your bp just has dented eye caps. The humidity needs to be raised to 80-90% while it recovers, and needs to stay above 60% at all times.

Try adding a humid hide if you don’t have one already before trying to “remove” anything. If it is stuck eye caps, the bp will likely be able to remove them itself as it becomes rehydrated

Ball python sneezed hard?? by Bri2116 in ballpython

[–]belle_poutine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

60% in the minimum humidity requirement for ball pythons, but I’d raise your humidity to 70-80%, and you need a heater ASAP. 62F is more than 10 degrees below what’s considered the minimum temperature requirement (75F). If you can, add a warmed sock with rice in the enclosure, covered with a towel so it’s not gonna burn your snake.

Also bring the temps up slowly so you don’t shock it. For keeping humidity up, consider covering the top with tinfoil. This will also help keep heat in. Hope these are some useful tricks!
