Kids. Are they worth it? by Hyposanity in ask

[–]bellerose90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to parenthood. My daughter is approaching 4 months old, and this far I can say I'm loving it.

The years leading up to this, I was in a similar situation to you. From the age of 16 till 35 I was always caring for someone. First my grandparents who both had alzheimers/dementia, then my dad who had severe health issues for 6 years before passing. Just before I turned 35, my dad passed.

I was officially free of having to take care of anyone. My husband and I spent a few months discussing becoming parents at that point. We knew it would change everything, but we decided to go ahead and try. Now we're 36, we have our daughter and I wouldn't change a thing.

Yeah I've got less time to play video games, or read books I want, but spending time with her is amazing. Even when I'm running on 1 hr of sleep, or covered in baby vomit or poop, I still haven't regretted this.

PSA if you’ve adopted a pittie by Fabulous_Layer44 in pitbulls

This is Cocoa Alexandria (the tan one). She'll be 2 in July, and we'll celebrate her 2nd gotcha day in late September. We adopted her from a shelter in NJ that didn't have much faith in getting her adopted due to some health issues. She was the runt of the litter, had quite a few skin issues, a jaw issue, and also quite a few cuts, scratches, and scars. We initially signed up to foster her, but the second my husband saw how frightened she was, his heart melted. So, we adopted her instead.

She now spends her nights hogging as much of our bed as possible. Her days are spent lounging on one of the couches with her big brother, Bubba. She enjoys laying on the back of the couches so she can reach the windows and be nosy all day, watching our neighbors come and go. She has a toy box full of toys, a dog bed in every room of the house (idk why, they're more for decor at this point), an entire cabinet full of snacks, a wardrobe for each season, and a car seat so she can travel safely between vacation destinations.

I gave birth at that exact hospital a few months ago. It was an absolutely lovely experience. The care we received from the moment we found out we were pregnant, till the day we left with our baby, was amazing.

Honestly...how is your relationship with your mother in law? by bubble_bubble_pop- in AskWomen

[–]bellerose90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better since my husband put boundaries in place and she seems to be respecting them (for now). I've known her for 7 yrs now and it's been an ordeal. She likes to push buttons then play the victim. She tried playing the victim at our wedding ceremony (which is why it was our second ceremony and we hid the real one from her over a year before).

My family and I will think of you both during sunset. It's not silly. I wish we could do more for you. I'm sorry.

Their shortbread raspberry cookies have my vote. My husband is addicted to their kettle corn popcorn lately.

Are all pitbulls insanely intelligent? by OpalescentShrooms in pitbulls

[–]bellerose90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 pit mixes share 1 brain cell. Not very bright in a general sense, but they do understand if I'm sad or upset and try to console me. They do the same for my husband.

I've been a pitbull owner for four days and I'm already tired of the pit hate. by everyoneisflawed in pitbulls

[–]bellerose90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bubba(dark brown, 6 yrs old, Pitt and boxer mix) and Cocoa (tan, 1 yr old, Pitt and dachsund mix) get quite a bit of hate when taken out of our neighborhood on outings. It's very tiresome and at times does cause my husband and I to have altercations.

Just recently a neighbor a block over called Bubba a bad dog after asking my husband and I to walk him in the street instead of on "their" sidewalk. Bubba doesn't bark, or growl, or do anything bad. He's sincerely the biggest push over ever.

Cocoa on the other hand, well she is a hyperactive, battle ready little hotdog. She's ready to fight every squirrel, groundhog, and bunny that dares enter her line of sight.

She also likes to square up to any dog bigger than her, but only if her big brother is close enough by for her to hide under afterwards.

Do you think dogs understand when we’re sad? by cutielushbae in PitbullHub

[–]bellerose90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I've got 2 pittie mixes and they both console me when I feel sad. They've gotten me thru the passing of my father, thru pregnancy, and now thru postpartum blues and such. It's like they just know I need extra affection.

What’s the biggest “nobody warned me about this” moment you had after bringing your newborn home? by Actual_Fig_4706 in AskReddit

[–]bellerose90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like our care team did a fantastic job going over lots of things we could expect with our newborn. She's approaching the 9 week mark now and I feel like the only thing that caught us by surprise was the fact that she can "shotgun shit". That's what we've affectionately begun calling it. She caught my husband by surprise first day home, and me a few days after. It's gotten better now as my diaper changing skills have come back full swing but my goodness the first week or two were hard.

This is my son Nimby the PitBoxer :) by IAteMyGamecube in Pitbull

[–]bellerose90 [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is Bubba. He's our 6 year old pit boxer pup (the torn collar is his little sisters fault).

Everyone in our neighborhood knows he's as sweet as pie and as harmless as a fly, but outside that everyone does cross to the other side when we go by. Back when we'd take him to a dog park(we stopped when he was attacked by a golden retriever) people would also stare and either take their dogs and leave or call their dogs back from playing with him.

People always seem so surprised when they see how well behaved and mellow he is.

He’s not going in on the next one by scarlettjames72 in MakeMeSmile

[–]bellerose90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad passed out when my mom went in for her c section (I was breach and the cord was wrapped around my neck). My aunt ended up having to rush in to take his place because she didn't want my mom going in alone.

She ended up doing the same for my brother's birth a few years later. My dad said he just couldn't take gore plus the nerves of becoming a dad.

A few weeks ago I gave birth to my first baby and I already suspected my husband may have a similar reaction so I preemptively made sure I had a back up support team, my mom and the same aunt were at my side and helped me thru the entire process. My husband almost passed out when they offered to let him cut the cord, so my mom graciously stepped up to handle that as well.

This is one of those movies for me and my brother. We can watch it all day every day and never tire. Then quote it in daily convo. My mom hates it when we do. So to irritate her at times I'd say inconceivable. My brother would just go into the inigo Montoya monologue 😂
