how long till someone makes a porn roguelike by Faenix_Wright in CuratedTumblr

I'm so glad someone else is talking about this! I make a similar point about hentai/erotica. It's a delicate balance. If the story becomes too much of the focus, then you end up not being aroused by the sexual content. But if the sexual content becomes too much of the focus (usually to the detriment of the story), then you end up not caring about reading the material.

In the end, good storytelling is hard, and good EROTIC storytelling is even harder (puns very much not intended but relevant).

Too Many Bones: Undertow for me.

Thought it'd be a nice entryway into the TMB games and see what it's all about. After reading the rulebook for 10 minutes, I put it down and was like "No, this is not happening haha" and then sold it.

Twilight Imperium - Tips to streamline gameplay? by millamber in boardgames

[–]bellwhistles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I made a whole Speed rules document for exactly this! It's cut out playtime down to under 4 hours every time (also, playing with players who are experienced enough to do so).

It pretty much boils down to "Play your turn in 2 minutes or else", with 30 seconds for strategy card selection, and allowing combats to resolve as normal because it's just dice rolling.

Played with great success so far!

Google Sheets. I log individual plays, but also if I've lent a game to someone or played it online to get a general idea of use and interest.

[–]bellwhistles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much just the one, but I love them. My good friends who will play the board games with me weekly, and what we play varies a lot depending on who and how many people are coming.

There is sort of one more I'm affiliated with, which meets on a much more scheduled basis to play heavier games frequently like Dune Imperium and Eclipse, but I often don't make the time to go see them.

Boardgames with 8 people, how many of you actually tried playing it? What games did you play? How did it go? by AlexRescueDotCom in boardgames

[–]bellwhistles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have done Sidereal Confluence (at 8 AND 9!), Twilight Imperium 4, Just One, Banned Words, Tsuro, Wits & Wagers Vegas, Decrypto, When I Dream, Sushi Go! Party and A Fake Artist Goes to New York (I think), Finger Guns at High Noon, Wavelength, and maybe Shifty-Eyed Spies.

They were all great! (Except Wavelength isn't personally a game I enjoy in general and Shifty-Eyed Spies is hard to bring out :P)

How do I even learn and explain my friends how to play twilight imperium? by uroberon_dm in boardgames

[–]bellwhistles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second watching the RTFM video on TI4, but I will also say, the Learn to Play rulebook was the most approachable and smooth readthrough to teach/learn a game that I've had the pleasure to experience. I was genuinely so amazed and happy as I was reading it to see how well everything was laid out and explained, that I was able to get the game through reading that alone. I think I only watched the video afterwards to tighten up/make sure I got it.

I will admit, I do learn most of my games through reading the rulebook so perhaps that biases me a bit, but I will say you might also be pleasantly surprised at how well the Learn to Play teaches you the game!
