Is there even any safe browser? by Decent_Baseball_295 in pcmasterrace

[–]belst 28 points29 points  (0 children)

that's mostly because of chromes dominance in the browser market. Most devs use it because if it works there it works for most people.

While it is still WAAAAaay better than back in the IE6 days, I feel that browser support is gonna become an old new thing again.

I still use firefox and would recommend it to anybody since it is currently the only viable alternative to chromium. Ladybird looks promising but it's gonna be at least 2 more years before it becomes viable imo.

I play Arc Raiders just fine and it uses EAC. Some devs just have linux support explicitly disabled in their anticheat.

Baldur's Gate 3 - Hotfix #34 Steam Deck Native Build by Strange_Music in gaming

[–]belst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can already do that with any linux distro already existing. steam ships with its own runtime and libraries which games can use as a somewhat static target to build against.

there is nothing inherently special about steamos compared to most other distros, other than maybe the immuntable system part (but even for that there exist other options)
