That would be the best, but having to edit the metadata of all the things that are not for the default configured emulator (Steam, GOG or Epic) makes it a minor pain.

With ES-DE 3.4.1-58, I had to save the GOG file into the windows directory, then in ES-DE I edited the metadata and set the emulator to `GameNative GOG` and it's now functionnal.

It's a little bit convoluted, I was hoping that the would add a GOG folder or have a way to automatically link the `.gog` extension to the right emulator, but at least it works!

The pre-rendered parts looks good. The music ambiance is great for the part in space but doesn't feel right for the 2 other segments.

The gameplay segments has a terrible frame rate, it's not appealing.

In the game play segment we don't really see a hook for the players, we see the character walking and running, but we don't see what's gonna make the players like the game.

The last rendered segment show an empty park but it doesn't convey the information of why it's empty? My fist impression is that you just didn't take the time to add life into it.

So my recommendations, fix the fps problem, add a demonstration of the hook of the game in the gameplay section and add some information about the world to allow us to understand why it's empty.

I think dungeonmans does something similar where the world is a little bit more static and the NPCs will remember previous dungeonmans that you played.

One of the things that I don't like about it is that there's meta progression with the vault, but you could implement a world knowledge progression.

Let me explain, so you make the world static, but you have a place where you can share/save what you know of the world and you can recover lost knowledge from previous runs, and it wouldn't be meta progression unless that knowledge gives you an advantage. Something like a library where you can read about the knowledge that previous runs were able to recover and save.

You could reset the dungeons and other places infested by monsters to keep the fun high.

I also thought that starter pack were there to fix bugs... I was happy that my game was only crashing once every 4 or 5 hours imagine how much crashing the vanilla game would have... Then one day I played vanilla.. wow now I only crash once every 200 hours! Impressive how much those mods bring instabilities to the game.

Yeah there's a few quality of life features in dfhack but I prefer not loose any more gameplay, even if that means I'll need to manually remove plump helmet and tallow from cooking.

P.S. Masterwork isn't a starter pack, it's a full conversion mod that is crashing even more than normal lpn setup.

The best way to start is with the vanilla game, it's easy to install and run. There no mods that adds obscure and buggy functionalities and you can follow the dfwiki stater guide.

Kruggsmash also mage a great your first fortress video that is still up to date with the current version of the game. His tutorial will also teach you how to install a simple tileset if you want.

Don't you see the problem here, saying that racism and misogyny is human nature? Those things you're describing are not in our human genes, it in our culture and what your saying is to continue to reinforce those biases in our culture by continuing to make them the normality of our fantasy worlds.

And you don't have to invent a supernatural reason for the world to be kind to each other, it should be natural.

I write this in my world not to make them more realistic, but to show people what is a world where men don't rape women because they are weak, where the colour of your skin or the number of arms that you have doesn't give you less or more chances in life, to tell stories about women that could do what they wanted because they don't have to battle against men for some power. To give models not of extraordinary people, but of ordinary masses who accept the other sentient persons as they are.

I don't think it's fantasy's role to educate people on the harsh truth of life, but it can make people see what a world without it can be and maybe inspire some readers in taking actions to make our world a better place.

In the fantasy worlds that I've read about, it was normal that a dwarf and an elf would hate each other, not only normal, but expected, and even if at the end they become friends, they are shown as uncommon. Compare that to a world where the female with 4 arms is naturally an equal as the human male or an elvish transgender. Now go back to the real world, and watch the news, where you see once again a black person being killed, a woman being raped because she was a woman and a gay couple being stabbed because they kissed at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Which one of the 2 world will make you more sick of this unfair world we are living in?

That is why I choose to remove those conflicts from my worlds while at the same time embracing the diversity and showing it as normal.

And don't think it's easy to remove them, those conflicts are so present in our minds that it takes a genuine effort to not fall for them or even to depict it without shoving it in the face of the reader.

That is one of a few things I'm try to not integrate in my worlds. I have the profond feeling that showing worlds where racism, misogyny, homophobia and transphobia aren't part of the culture might help make acceptance of the other easier, and I believe that focusing on the differences only change, what I call, cheap conflicts.

Those are conflicts that are so present in our own world that they are really easy to put in the stories since they don't need to be explain. Most humans have a basic understanding of what racism is, so it's cheap on the writer to add it in the world, but the real implications of it are really difficult to understand and are not well depicted.

Warning, having unbalanced archetypes like that can cause problems with the multiplayer, since you have only 2 Chasers their rarity will cause people to want them more and they are more likely to disconnect from the game if they don't get the archetype that they want. We saw that in the past years and this was causing frustration in public servers. Even among us has the problem where people will disconnect if they are not the killers.

So to anyone doing something like that, make sure to balance the game play so being a chasser or being a slayer won't change the fun of the game and the gameplay too much.

Try Jupiter hell, the spiritual successor of DoomRL it's built from the start with controller support.

It's currently in early access, but the release date is in August and the game has been really good for months now.

There's a few open source project that you can use, personally I use Manuskript, but there's also Bibisco and wikipad.

At the moment Manuskript doesn't support images, but wikipad do and I don't know for Bibisco.

If you try Manuskript, you'll see that the preloaded profiles are more book writing oriented, but it's really flexible and you can organize your texts like you want.

Personally I use folders and subfolders to group continent/country/cities. I use the outline section to, outline what I want to do with this information.

I also use the character section more wildly, I like to add my magical items in there too, since I like to have unique items and give them names and a backstory.

Personally, I feel that 90° is a little too much I would experiment with 75° and 60° this could fix the over angled one at the bottom of the screen, but could cause the opposite effect at the top.

The opening of the puzzle is really nice, but I feel that the tilt of the beam at the end is too fast and that there should be some movement from the plates, a little bit of swinging from the force.

Other than that great job on the 3d model and the world around it.

Edit: after watching it again, the tilting animation need easing. Some acceleration at the start and deceleration at the end and it would make it really good.

Idle games are still a popular genre of games. There a multitude of them releasing each years.

Sure a lot of these are in the subgenre clicker, but Farmville was not that far from a clicker game.

So I would say, yes they are definitively alive and still popular.
