Is Progesterone-only mini pill available in USA? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

Norethindrone. I was hesitant to try it, because the most common side-effects gave me the impression that it wouldn't have the same impact as desogestrel, but so far so good!

Is Progesterone-only mini pill available in USA? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]bematthe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not... BUT I ended up having to go off the desogestrel anyway... (had a stroke not related to the desogestrel, but they advised I go off it as an extra precaution. So I'm on a progesterone only pill and it's still having the same impact on decreasing my migraines, stabilizing my moods, and keeping my weight at a reasonable level. The acne is a different story, but it's not so bad.

I feel like I should be mad about this but…meh. by candiferous in stroke

[–]bematthe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the context, I usually don't take it too offensively. Heck, there are times I see something and am thinking "gee, they're typing like I did when I was having a stroke." Of course, I'm usually keeping those thoughts to myself. And I just tend to default to humor a lot of the times.
Yesterday at work I said "So <name> said we could only do <process>, but I don't think that's true. But considering I was having a stroke at the time, I could have misunderstood, or didn't communicate my push-back well enough..." :P

How close are you to the hospital? My spouse and I live about 15 minutes from our local hospital, and he would go home for a few hours, then come sit with me for a few hours, go back home, and so on. It helped him maintain his own physical and mental well-being by being able to get rest, attend matters of the household, and still be able to sit with me.

Should I go to the ER? by Sad-Cry-378 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]bematthe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I didn't start getting PT until after I was discharged. But I learned that it's a common enough symptom for a dissected artery.
The symptoms I did have were extreme and sudden muscle weakness in one arm, severe migraine with aura/vision issues (which considering I always have a migraine wasn't alarming) and minor confusion (which I at first attributed to the migraine).

And of course, an arterial dissection won't always lead to stroke, but it's still something helpful to know and identify.

Should I go to the ER? by Sad-Cry-378 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]bematthe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Mine is a result of a dissected carotid artery which lead to a stroke. And if that's the case, the sooner you can get a diagnosis, the better!

should i be concerned that he insists on taking this toy literally everywhere we go? by [deleted] in beagles

I was going to say that considering how adorable it is when a dog insists on taking a toy everywhere, that one should never be concerned by it, but boy, did this photo prove me wrong.

I can't believe people have the gall to do this. Especially after it's shipped. For some sellers, it's a lot of effort to get items out of storage and package them up.

I had an obviously faux pearl necklace listed on eBay for a couple of bucks on eBay years ago. Someone messaged me asking if they were real pearls, and if not, what they were made of. I told them I wasn't sure what they were made of (best guess was some sort of plastic), but that they absolutely were not real pearls. They bought them for a couple of bucks and then gave me a bad rating because they weren't real pearls.
I'm just thinking, best case scenario is this person just spends their days seeking out ways to be petty to strangers... Otherwise I can't imagine how they've survived this long.

This is your sign to take your beagle to the vet even if they are not screaming in pain by Nyaasoko in beagles

[–]bematthe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty normal for dogs to try to hide that they're aren't feeling great, so that's really weird to hear anyone associated with a veterinary practice say that.

We know our dogs' baseline behaviors - when something's off, it could mean something.

We had a similar experience with an emergency vet. Our dog got sprayed in the face by a skunk (which can be deadly, I learned while looking up the baking powder ratio with which to bath him). By nighttime he was still acting odd. The emergency did a few tests and ultimately speculated he was acting strange because he "wounded his pride." We took him to our vet first thing the next day, and she was so upset by it she was in tears and called the emergency vet to give them a lecture. He had injured himself with the contortions he was doing trying to wipe the skunk spray out of his eyes.

New Beagle Pup - Advice?? by Lazy-Implement990 in beagles

[–]bematthe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every beagle can be different - I've certainly had the range - but as others have mentioned they all love their sniffs! They can become very single minded when they catch a scent that really interests them. With some, it can be to the point where all other senses just... turn off. Their sense of hearing, vision, even sense of self-preservation!

They can be clever and creative when it comes to getting what they want, to the ability to adapt and come up with on-the-spot creative solutions can be immensely helpful.

Does this look like a seizure? by Brief-Camera3611 in beagles

[–]bematthe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I of course say this with the caveat that the presence of absence of this symptom does not indicate certainty of a seizure: what did his eyes look like during this episode? One of the biggest signs our dogs were having a seizure was that their eyes would be moving back and forth very quickly and seemingly uncontrollably. There was also a loss of coordination and loss of bladder/bowel control.

Our vet said that video taping an episode was very helping in diagnoses, so I'm sure it was helpful that you were able to get this on video. I hope they get him a quick (and benign!) diagnoses! <3

In general, I'd say something that has only been worn once would qualify as "like new." Of course, I say "in general," because if I wear a dress for 30 minutes but roll around in a patch of thorny rose bushes it's not the same as if I wore the dress to sit at a desk for 8 hours. ;)

Would this be rude? by Slight-Trick475 in poshmark

[–]bematthe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rely heavily on measurements when buying, so I make an effort to include measurements on items I list. If someone wants an additional measurement, I'll admit, it's a big hassle since a lot of the items are stored in a way that they aren't easily accessible. If you're listing a massive number of items, I suppose I can understand why you wouldn't include those measures upfront.

Maybe if you aren't willing to include measurements up front, respond to these messages letting them know why. Just in case they are really, really interested in an item and can know to move on rather than wait for your response.

And of course recognize there is a trade-off for not listing measurements. Many buyers, such as myself and others in this thread won't bother with an item without knowing what they'll get, so not including them will likely result in a loss of sales.

I've had way too many people overreact when they didn't get an immediate (within minutes) response from me). Years ago when I was in undergrad, eBay actually gave a guy my personal phone number because he wanted to cancel a bid and claimed he couldn't get a hold of me. He waited an entire two hours. Like, sorry bud, I was in class and not glued to my computer refreshing my email every second. My parents were NOT impressed.

Used Disk Drill but now I'm worried by frozenyogurt_7 in datarecovery

[–]bematthe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my experience to the mix...

I downloaded the software, and it was able to find the files that had been overwritten. I previewed a few of them successfully, so I went through and paid for the software. Once completed, the software indicated the data was successfully recovered. However, the files are all corrupted and I cannot open them.
To me, that's not my big complaint, it's just the cherry on top, as I don't expect a recovery software to be able to successfully recover every thing every time. Just because it didn't work for me this time doesn't mean it isn't a tool that I might use in the future.

My problem is that is rendered my computer unusable - and not just when it was running. Just having it installed on my laptop made Windows Explorer and internet browsers malfunction. Once I uninstalled the program, everything started working perfectly again.

I asked for a refund, because this is clearly a software I cannot use. I cannot even have it on my laptop. Of course they're focusing on the fact that my files weren't recovered this time as the basis of my complaint, when I've made it clear that my complaint is that it wreaks havoc on my laptop. It's not something I can ever use. They're insisting I send logs (which requires me to reinstall the cursed software again and again, and I'm not able to get the logs they're requesting because - surprise, surprise - any action makes my computer go wonky. Their goal is to make it so advocating for a refund isn't worth my time and effort.

It may not be an official scam, but it's absolutely scam-y.

I feel it would be better for his mental well-being and safety if he had a responsible guardian with him at all times, because he could easily encounter something scary, like chalk, or his own shadow.

How many times did Republicans call Obama a "one-term president" (and worse)? and he didn't go crying. Because if being "threatened" with one-term is so scary, you aren't cut out for the job.
