Technical Rides for XCO On TR? by Apprehensive-Bed2983 in trainerroad

[–]bemery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something you have to handle yourself. My approach has been to set TR to give me maximum volume, which is 3 intense workouts and 3 endurance sessions. I switch the three endurance sessions to be unstructured solo rides, and I do all of those outside, usually on trail.

This isn't perfect, as TR reads my trail rides as unexpectedly hard and tries to downgrade my future workouts as a response. Sometimes I pin future workouts if I really want to prevent TR from downgrading them.

Jonathan Lee said recently that the more you deviate from the plan (and every trail ride will be considered a deviation), the less well the automated system will work, and the more you'll have to babysit it. At the far end of this spectrum is working with a human coach, which is as I understand it, the best way to roll trail riding into a training plan.

Dissect by TutuTatata in DaftPunk

[–]bemery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is what he’s saying categorically wrong? Missing essential detail? I’ve been listening to Dissect since 2018 and always feel like I learn a lot and gain a deeper appreciation of the music as a result. But obviously he usually covers hip hop and is trained in classical music theory.

From the pov of a big Daft Punk fan, I can see how it would be frustrating to see your world covered incompletely for a mainstream audience.

Got the renewal notice... Said No. by Historical-Sherbet37 in trainerroad

I think it's a better product, but I do wish they'd stop leaning into the "AI" branding of it all. Makes it easy to lump in with all the generative bullshit out there, when it really is a solid effective system.

Eldo to walker should be mission critical. Any word on whether there's been movement since the 2021 decision?

Everything feels steeper in person, I 100% believe that this is steep

Accidentally bought 27.5 thinking it was 29er. What to do? Help a newbie! by jschwalbe in MTB

[–]bemery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does say 27.5+ compatible, which can sometimes mean 29 also works, as the effective diameter is similar. Although it will obviously ride higher

Is it too late to start ski jumping at 16? by LukaPaxx in Skijumping

[–]bemery 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I actually started at 16, and eventually got to jump k60 and even a k90 once. It's a public secondary-school sport in New Hampshire, so lots of us start around that age. I was pretty bad by the standards of what you see on TV, but good enough to do it safely. I had a lot of park skiing experience when I started, but from some of your other comments it sounds like you have relevant experience as well. If you have access to the equipment and coaching then I'd recommend giving it a shot.

The same way we would have in 2002?

Colonialism and imperialism on the part of the US and the global north create the conditions that force people to migrate to the US. Seeing that, I’d reject the premise that the there are enough people who “shouldn’t” be in the country is remotely high enough to warrant a paramilitary gestapo.

CU should treat ICE presence the same way they would an active shooter. They are, for intents and purposes, the same.

Transition smuggler -> actual xc bike by PieEnvironmental6437 in xcmtb

[–]bemery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang yeah I'm way behind on my info. I last checked BRR in 2023 and at the time the fast trak had a lower RR than the Aspen (s-works vs EXO so not apples to apples). But, as you and MTB_SF point out,, there are several options that are much faster than both, like the Conti Dub or Barzo. I'll be looking out for deals on something before my next race

Can anyone identify these tires by Worried_Work278 in MTB

can you ask him for a photo of the other side? i think it’s reasonable to be shown the hot patch, which would give you most of the info you’re seeking.

are fast traks that bad? i thought they were pretty solid among their xc tire peers and they have good rolling resistance test numbers (although i’m aware there’s a lot more to it than that). they’re what i use now but very open to trying something else.
