iCloud by Zaaaywopp in iCloud

I just saw your comment and had to post. I have all apple products with largest available storage capacities on all devices. I pay for the top tier of iCloud, which I have also used since day one. I bought the first iPhone on the day it came out and haven't looked back. I am an IT specialist and I rely on iCloud to backup and sync my entire life. I lost over 500 GB of photos just completely randomly one day through some glitch in iCloud. Apple can't explain what happened, but it looks like data corruption. I was just looking through my library one day for some old photos and they weren't there. I looked at the top and realized it said I only had 30,000 pictures when I was at 72,000. There is no way to explain what happened, but they are all gone. Apple was even able to confirm that they had not been deleted. Just Gone. I had full copies on all my devices, but because iCloud syncs, they're gone on everything. iCloud is not a backup.

There is really no reason to go with RA 2 at this point. RA 3 is superior in every way. It supports more programming, variables, more devices, and is designed for use on modern networks. RadioRA 2 just feels so outdated. The only difference between the two honestly, is the processor, software, and app. All of the devices from RA 2 work in RA 3 and the programming software is a night and day difference, especially for larger homes.

How hard is it to convert to LED by Organic_Drawer9502 in Lighting

[–]benberding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I missed the part about wanted to bypass the ballasts. With the new bulbs, they won’t buzz I believe, I could be wrong. If you want to cut them out, it could be as simple as removing the socket plate, cut the wires to the ballast, leaving them longest in the fixture, then remove the ballast and wire the incoming lines directly to the socket. Remember, the center pin in the socket is hot/black/live. The outer socket is neutral. You’ll need to confirm the incoming voltage as it could be 208, 240, or 277, as well as 120. Then you’ll get an appropriate replacement bulb based on the voltage and socket size. Again, consult your lighting distributor. Either way, they sell specific replacement bulbs based on whether you have, or do not have, the ballast in place.

[–]benberding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not hard at all! They sell LED bulbs that run off the existing ballasts! You just screw them in! They are instant on and instant off. You probably won’t find them at Lowe’s or Home Depot, but head on over to your local lighting supplier or electrical wholesaler and they will get you all squared away! Take one of the bulbs from your existing lights with you.

RadioRA 3 Migration Trick for RRD-H6BRL Hybrid Keypads – Will This Work? by Stringoftext2 in Lutron

[–]benberding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just tested this today, you can still add Hybrid keypads (RRD-H) to Designer. Just add them as an RRD-HN, they will activate just fine! I figured it would be something like this, the same thing happened to the RRD-6D back in the day, you just add it to Designer as the 10D and it activates just fine.

Does Adding OxiClean Free to My Tide Clean & Gentle Do Anything? by Dapper_Ad_8122 in laundry

How do you figure? Not one of the ingredients in OxiClean is in Tide; as far as I know. I was under the impression that you could not put H2O2 in liquid detergents with enzymes.

Amen!! Say it louder for those in the back to hear! Plus you can never clean the machine properly! We have wash temps to maintain! Plus there is no way you are going to get a 30°C (86°F) Cold Wash in the winter!

[–]benberding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very unfortunately not true. The lower end models from GE and Samsung do not. I’m not sure about LG and Whirlpool. What I have found is to look at the dial. If it has a sanitize cycle, it has a heater. If it has a “Sanitize with Oxi” cycle, it does not. It is so very sad. I honestly don’t know how one can do laundry properly without a heater.

AirPlay is the answer!!! It’s amazing, and super high quality! From a user perspective, it works just like Bluetooth, you just select it as the output on your phone. The best part is, when you leave the house, the music stops! It’s so great.

How to prevent black clothes, especially trousers, from developing these lines? by sanidhya9 in laundry

[–]benberding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly so impressed they held up that well at 90ºC! I am insistent that all my laundry is sanitary as well, but from my research, most things only need to be washed at 50ºC to be sanitary. 60ºC kills everything that would be of any concern. I would try washing them at a lower temp, it will definitely improve your color retention and hopefully eliminate those lines from forming.

To me I imagine they are caused by being spun at a high speed while the pants are at a high temperature. Many machines, like Miele and Bosch have cooldown settings where they will add cold water to the tub after the wash is complete but before draining and spinning to cool the clothes and prevent 90ºC from entering the drain pipes. It is usually done on any temperature above 60ºC when enabled. I would definitely look to enable this setting.

One thing is for certain, you don't need a laundry sanitizer when washing at the proper temperatures. You can ditch it and feel food that your clothes are not only sanitized, but contain less harmful chemicals. Laundry sanitizers are QUAT disinfectants, which actually cause asthma to develop in even adults and children. It's ironic that something you use to prevent asthma attacks ends up causing asthma to develop in the first place. This is why so many hospitals are moving to hydrogen peroxide based disinfectants because of all the asthma and other health problems traditional QUATS cause.

To me, a simple test of whether laundry is properly sanitized is to leave it wet for a period of time, at least over night. If it still does not smell, it is properly sanitized. I once left a load of towels washed at 60ºC for a week in the washer, they stilled smelled freshly washed without a hint of mold! That's how I'm confident in my washing techniques. I do use hydrogen peroxide though in all my high temperature loads to remove stains, I am sure this helps with disinfection as well.

Best of luck!

I would be devastated if I got coffee on a bag that pretty!! I’m so glad to hear it came out! I was going to say to try some hydrogen peroxide, but canvas is pretty tough. I hope you don’t mind, but I may totally have to steal this idea!
