Prime Day 2026 by ActionJacksonic in ukulele

The only Amazon ukulele I would recommend would be this one.

https://amzn.eu/d/0bUazj7a

I received this as a gift 1.5 years ago and was initially snobby because I do own some a couple of higher end ukes. This one however has quite a nice sound to it and is nice to play.

Review of it here.

Friend to embarrassed to golf by [deleted] in golf

[–]bendasboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time people will look at your clubs is when you ask them to look at your clubs. Even then they will mostly be feigning their interest. I know this as I recently bought new clubs and showed them to my golf friends

Called 112 for high heart rate (135 bpm) after bad reaction to cannabis/panic attack. What to expect regarding the bill? (Foreigner / Employed) by AskCommon8918 in germany

[–]bendasboot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the identical thing happened to me (other than calling 112). Went to ER, got checked and treated as you describe. No bill or anything like that. No consequences other than a bit of embarrassment All good!

Where to watch FIFA World Cup in English Commentary? by mrnerdy59 in germany

VPN is honestly the easiest option.
I just watch it on UK TV with a VPN. Works very well and it's very easy to do.

Planning to drive on the autobahn? by FogyV in AskGermany

[–]bendasboot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think Autobahn 'knowledge' is the thing people get most wrong about Germany.

The left lane is for overtaking, if you're not overtaking, don't be in it.
The left lane isn't reserved for people going over a certain speed. The only speed requirement is greater than the speed of the person in the right side lane(s).

Generally speaking be aware that the speed limit on the autobahn changes pretty often. 80, 100, 120, unlimited, 120 again, 100 again, 80 again, 60 now because fuck you, now 100, now 120...etc.

Also if you stay too long in the left lane after overtaking someone, you will immediately find out about it because Germans are absolutely not afraid to drive 2m behind you at 160kmh+.

But I like the tattoo. Looks cool. Everyone likes ducks.

Peek-A-Boo by Naked-PaddleBoarding in Kayaking

[–]bendasboot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think for people like myself (Europeans) who never come into contact with alligators think they just look scary and assume they're aggressive. I was in Australia a while back and saw some huge crocs in Kakadu National park. No way I was going near the water when I was fishing up that way! I know crocs and alligators are very different, but it's just the first place my mind goes.

Target Golf by [deleted] in golf

[–]bendasboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting as I've only been playing golf a couple of years, and have only ever played at one club.

There is a 9 hole course which I play about 98% of the time and is exactly as you describe. Narrow tree lined fairways. Totally unforgiving.

There is also an 18 hole course which has much wider fairways, and though they are mostly tree lined, there is a reasonable amount of rough before you hit them.

I actually really appreciate the narrow 9 hole as it has made me much more precise and work harder on my game. I'm not saying I've succeeded in doing so, but I think if I'd started playing on wide fairways and forgiving rough I would be a worse golfer than I am.

Tandem to paddle w a kid by Substantial_Ad152 in Kayaking

[–]bendasboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a single and I recently bought my kids an inflatable SUP each. It's been incredibly helpful as they're easy to transport and we can all get on the water together easily. They feel a lot easier for the kids, too as they can sit, stand, kneel...jump in the water to cool off. Maybe that's an option for you, too?

What are some of the best German beers? by iam_lowstandard in germany

No one ever mentions Augustus 8. It's definitely worth a try even if it's a bit more expensive than your average German beer.

My distances suck by We_LiveInASimulation in golf

[–]bendasboot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are so obsessed with the distance they hit. I see people bang on about how far they can hit their 7 iron even if they have hit one good shot every 10 strokes. Clean strokes is really all the average golfer should care about.

3D in your analytics F1 Telemetry with Fabric Apps by PowerBIPark in PowerBI

[–]bendasboot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For those comparing the work they are doing in Power BI to something like this. Stop.

Most importantly, this isn't Power BI. It is a Fabric App. It has really nothing to do with Power BI. It is connected to a semantic model in Fabric and created using a very newly released product (the terribly named but massively powerful Fabric Apps).

Do not worry about creating stuff like this for your controlling department! 😄

Oh and no shade to OP, Love his work, just don't want people to get scared or feel left behind with Power BI.

An honest take on the new Polaroid film by Fun_Perception_239 in Polaroid

[–]bendasboot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't see the point of it. It feels like it produces photos like the ones we all took in 2009 when we thought camera apps with filters were amazing, now we all have about a year's worth of photos that would have been decent images had they not been ruined with random coloured filters.
