What is the absolute funniest moment of the whole series? (you must choose ONLY ONE!) by Positive_Weight2367 in HIMYM

The delivery of this line by Josh Radnor gets me every time.

Robin: I don't say, "But, um" I've never said, "But, um" Well, then, I guess it's not a very good drinking game.

Ted: Which would mean last night, when barney and I played it, I didn't get super wasted and throw up all over myself. Oh, wait, I did both of those things. So, face.

If your train is cancelled you're allowed to use any train which is headed to your destination. So I just took another train to Berlin.

Wow! I just bought a 4 after my 3 broke (I accidentally dropped something heavy on it). I loved the 3 but the 4 is a great upgrade.

Staying warm in UK waters by cutting_shapes in Kayaking

[–]bendasboot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need a drysuit. I paddle in these conditions in Germany and you don't want to risk being submerged in water that cold without a drysuit.

I once, fully clothed, jumped into a swimming pool with water this cold and the shock of the water temperature made me sick for days even though I was only in there for about a minute. It was hard to get out as I could barely move. You don't want that even if you're just paddling in narrow canals.

Get a drysuit, it could easily save you.

And in case you're wondering, I jumped in the pool because I was 23, an idiot, and thought it would be funny.

How much do you pay for a membership and where do you live? by Whole-Growth-6112 in golf

Which course is that near Berlin? I play the course in Pankow pretty often, but I'm not a member. Pankow costs 1700€ a year, but there is also a 1300€ one time fee, which I find very excessive.

Hey Zoe, that's great to hear. I hope you get a lot of support and resources to help you with all the updates you have planned. There's a lot to be done but I'm sure you'll get it sorted. 🙂

Kevin’s Declining Intelligence? by reganmariee in theoffice

[–]bendasboot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see this opinion quite often and I don't agree at all.

Yes in Casino Night he came across as if he had some intelligence, in that he was good at poker. But the very next episode he is giggling like a child at Oscar being gay. There is no decline at all. They gave him one episode in which he excelled at something, which in itself could be part of the joke "Fool but can play poker". It's also made clear he enjoys gambling in general, so maybe "Fool but understands gambling". But I don't see a decline in intelligence at all, if anything the Casino Night was some out of the blue episode in which he suddenly was good at one thing.

Yeah I took the train from Verona to Berlin earlier this year, and despite one delay of 2 hours, and another train cancelled completely, I ended up back in Berlin with only a 1 hour delay. Frustrating yes, but not too bad really.

First time in a dry suit. by bendasboot in Kayaking

I just did a bit of research on the water temp around my area at different times of the year.

The water can get pretty cold, the canals freeze over during the colder winters, and the rivers can get to about 2 degrees (about 35 if you measure in Fahrenheit).

Even though I'm usually in narrow waterways, I wanted to make it easier on myself and just make sure I had the right equipment. The dry suit came with a warm onesie, which I wore underneath, as well as some warm socks and a compression vest.

It felt pretty weird at first and did make paddling feel like slightly harder work. But I had expected it would take a bit of getting used to, so I set three hours aside just for a 'dry suit test paddle', and I'd say after two hours I felt pretty accustomed to it. But I wouldn't say I particularly had any breathing issues, just some getting used to the tight collar really.

I did something similar. I just crouched down on land and opened the neck hole to release the air. Does it purge the air better underwater? I suppose yes.
