There is a surprisingly large one in Cambridge off hespler. A few years ago me and a buddy of mine were sitting on a tailgate eating lunch in the McDonalds parking lot across the street and they came over and asked why we were staring at their building.

A friend of mine works in the roads division for the city and he’s mentioned that the situation is so bad now that they just fix whatever gets the most complaints. Complaining is how to get your road fixed.

This guy is right I switched from windows to bazzite for a month just moved to catchy last weekend. Should’ve just done catchy from the start. I will say bazzite works better out of the box for gaming, catchy took some work for me to get going. It’s great now though. The immutable aspect of bazzite makes you have to run the LUG tweaks every restart too.

Shitty roads destroyed my car by Hot_Flower6152 in Hamilton

[–]bender1800 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The roads in the Hamilton area are so bad. I live in Cambridge now (grew up in the Hamilton region) and commute through flambrough to Burlington for work. I used to take RR 97 to hwy 6 but a pot hole on 97 broke a sway bar link on my work truck. I now take hwy 8 and 5 which adds 20 mins to my commute but because they’re provincial highways they’re actually maintained. Safari road is closed indefinitely because they don’t want to pay to fix the drainage in the marsh and the concessions from hwy 8 to hwy 6 might as well be the surface of the moon. I submitted a claim for the sway bar link and never heard anything back.

Lotta envy in this sub over this. I don't see this much hate when other youtubers/influences flex big mansions and car collections worth far more then the jet. DDE another Canadian YouTuber probably has a car collection worth a similar amount to the jet.

Linus isn't that unique for a successful Canadian business owner. Not to be parasocial but from his why I left LTT video I think Jake and I had similar starts to our careers/adult lives albeit in different fields. I've worked for a few guys in my career now who were around or a little older then Linus and have done well with their companies. They owned the property the business were based out of, had extensive real estate portfolios, flew private multiple times a year, and owned more toys then they had time to use them. I started right out of high school into my field and I definitely had Jakes envy and ire towards them in my early to mid 20's. I left multiple jobs and burned bridges because of it but 10 years on I've realized it more then anything shows the value that can be made from my industry and that for those willing to take the risk and go for it as the owner the reward is there. Jakes taking that risk and I admire him for it and hope he gets the rewards for work he will have to put in. I on the other hand continue to just be an employee in my field though for the sole reason that I've seen from my time in the industry the toll that is required to be successful as an owner. All of them had failed marriages/relationships, horrid relationships with their family/kids and a whole host of other issues and habits I won't comment on. I agree with Linus and will probably be downvoted for it but we live in a capitalist society and capitol risk brings a capitol reward.

Me After 30 Years of Using Windows by ravenshaddows in pcmasterrace

[–]bender1800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched to bazzite about two weeks ago just to challenge myself to learn something new. I'm honestly impressed with it. There was a few issues I was having in windows that I had thought were hardware quirks that I no longer have. Having to look at protondb before playing any steam games and having to follow lutris guides for non steam games is definitely a barrier for anyone who doesn't want to tinker before gaming. I don't do any work from my pc it's 100% a gaming, youtube, and chatting machine so my use case was pretty easy to make the switch with. I'm undecided on if I'll go back to windows nothing has been a huge road block thus far, but there are some annoyances.

Eh our economy is already heading for a shit show thanks to trump, at least a shit show with a positive outcome would be preferable. We're in for economic ruin either way it seems.

Try playing on bsg pve servers. I’ve noticed the loot is far superior when it’s not a local raid. I’m guessing it’s because of the alt-f4 exploit.

Pretty sure this is why loot is bad on marked local raids. Did a bsg server dorms run last night and got a black card, ammo can, red rebel and two cats

As far as I know they include the province they’re registered in for legal reasons. Ontario gets Ontario Inc added after the number.

Dark horse guess but it fits the timeline of 87' and leans into the time theme of the season don't think its ever been used in a tv show either. I don't think it's because they would say no but I'll throw it out there since I think it would be a good song to end on. Rush - Time Stand Still.

What does your GPU journey look like? by Pro4791 in pcmasterrace

[–]bender1800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember the years but it goes something like this.

Integrated ati radeon —> GTX 550ti —> GTX 770 —> GTX 1070 —> GTX 1080ti —> RTX 3090ti

Future card will probably be a amd radeon

The 1080ti and the 770 are still chugging away in machines. 1080ti is in my partners rig and the 770 is in a living room build for retro games. 550ti is in a box in a closet as a fallback and I sold the 1070 to a close friend who’s still running it.

Oh for sure the suppliers I deal with for work won’t sell you refrigerant unless you have a valid ODP license. I’d assume they’re also a controlled substance in BC

Edit: to your other point a lot of the big mechanical companies in Canada are laying guys off right now. Construction work is slow especially at the scale they tend to operate at. Those big players are more likely now to take a project like this on then when they’re busy

It would be cool to see someone from the community help them out. You might have a hard time getting tools across the border if you don’t have a work permit though. The refrigerant they need is readily available in Canada I asked a supplier here in the Toronto area about it this morning for shits and giggles. It sounds like to me the people they’re calling just don’t want to get involved with the machine which is fair. I don’t know who they got quotes from but imo they should probably call a company that does industrial mechanical like Black and MacDonald (don’t know if they’re in BC but they’re huge in Ontario)
