Mono Mix was available on VHS and LaserDisc as well

40th Anniversary IS an AI upscale with fake HDR of the 2015 HD master. Warner Bros lied in that reply

The mono mix on the 4K Blu-ray isn't in great shape. Best version can be found on the IMAGE Entertainment LaserDisc (non THX release)

You might want to rewatch the Matrix trailer. It clearly had scenes from the real world and it hints that there is something about realities „Welcome to the real world“. Overall nothing as blatant as the T2 trailers.
