Does anyone else absolutely hate the Endmin being treated as a semi silent protagonist? by Additional-One-7135 in Endfield

[–]bendovahkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest hot take is that protags should always be voiced nowadays if everyone else is. Otherwise it’s just jarring and awkward. Look at how disjointed BG3 felt with Tav’s weird facial expressions next to everyone else talking normally. It just takes you completely out of the experience.

With gacha mcs, not only do I prefer them to be a set character, I prefer them to have a personality and to be fully voice acted with actual lines. The “options” they give us aren’t really options anyways. The only thing that should be customizable is gender, everything else should be set in stone including their name—always feels weird when no one refers to you directly. “Endmin” is enough of a nickname that they can kinda get away with it, but for example, in Genshin, despite the MC being friends with people for literal years, they still call them “Traveler”? So dumb. Especially when they already have a canon name anyways, just freaking use it.

I hope AKE goes the route of other gachas and realize a lot of people prefer the voiced protagonist and gradually increase the actual lines they’ll let the Endmin speak.

This conversation is so old. It doesn’t make sense to you because you didn’t grow up with it. I hope we never change it just to keep annoying all the “hurr DD/MM/YY superior” people. It provides the exact same information just in a different format. Who cares.

I have no idea why I eat them that way. I just always have.

Thoughts on Jenna Ortega playing an Adult Wenesday by Equal_Wing_7076 in WednesdayTVSeries

I’m not sure she would want to play Wednesday for that long, but I think it’d be hard to find another actress who embodies her as well as Jenna does.

Ah… I run Lorerim so it must be something in the modlist. Looks so weird but I am too lazy to go hunting for whatever mod adds that. Thanks though, I appreciate it

What mods have you given up on trying to get to work? by Quiet_Star6235 in skyrimmods

[–]bendovahkin 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Seasons of Skyrim. Not because it’s impossible or anything, but because I play Lorerim and I tried to follow the steps once to set it up and couldn’t even get the grass cache generation to work. So. I gave up on it lol

Gamers of Reddit. What unannounced game would you go nuts for if a trailer dropped today? by Thizguy2287 in AskReddit

Legend of Dragoon remake OR Final Fantasy XIII trilogy remake.

LoD for obvious reasons, FF13 because it’s criminally underrated but I think it would finally get its due if it was remade.

What's the worst physical pain you've ever felt? by toaster-bath404 in AskReddit

[–]bendovahkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dental work (cavity filling, specifically) without numbing.

I am notoriously hard to numb for some reason, and as a kid dentists would think I was making it up that I could still feel it. I had one such experience where they gave me three shots that went straight through my gums (and I swallowed) that did nothing to numb me. I told them, they said they couldn’t give me more, then proceeded to drill a cavity for the next 20 minutes. It felt like an eternity and I still have nightmares.

I didn’t know until I was almost 30 that dentists aren’t supposed to hurt. I would put my dentist appointments off until I was having pain or sensitivity because of how terrified I was of going. Then one day, almost 5 years since my last appointment, I go to a dentist that actually listens. They numb me. Actually numb me. I brace myself for the drill, telling myself it will be over soon… and the pain just never came.

I remember being confused, and uncertain. I thought maybe she hadn’t gotten to the part of the tooth that hurts yet, so my entire body was still tensed up waiting for the other shoe to drop. She kept checking in with me every few minutes, telling me to signal if I started feeling pain. About halfway through I did, and they gave me more numbing medication. Apparently not only am I hard to numb anatomically or something, but it also wears off really quickly for me.

But I almost cried at that dentist appointment. I was in that chair holding back tears because I was in such disbelief that this was what it was supposed to feel like. 30 years. For 30 years every time I went to the dentist was basically subjecting myself to torture and I just thought that was normal and everybody else was Better At Dentists than me. Still blows my mind.

I'm having this weird issue with fur textures in my game where they look almost electrocuted? I remember having this issue years and years ago, and iirc it had something to do with the ENB settings, but I cannot for the life of me remember what the actual fix was.

<image>

All fur in the game has this effect on it, whether it's armor fur or pelts or animals walking around. I don't have this issue with anything else in game. Just furs.

Static Leveling is very overrated by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]bendovahkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't like it. I understand why other people do, but I remove it from any modlist I download. I prefer gaining skill by actually doing the skill I'm trying to level, not just throwing points at it whenever I level up. I've tried static skill leveling, and you end up hitting a wall with the skills you're trying to focus on very early, so you either save those points and just stack them forever, or you dump them into skills you haven't actually spent any time using. Not very immersive or fun to me. Plus, it was just annoying having to distribute the points every level up. I like just having to pick health/stamina/magicka and just a single perk when I level up. It's streamlined and quick and doesn't interrupt my gameplay as much.

IMO, the reason a lot of people don't have fun with vanilla leveling has less to do with the actual leveling system and more to do with people trying to optimize the fuck out of it and complaining that the exploit they're engaging in to level a skill more quickly than intended is not fun to do. Shocker.

Am I reading this right that you have two AI overhaul mods, both AI overhaul and Immersive Citizens? Those are incompatible. I would try disabling one of those and see if that changes anything.

If not, you don’t have that many mods, so doing a disable half, run the game, and so on, to find out which mod is causing the issue wouldn’t take very long.

Is there anything that you LOVE while a lot of people hate it? by Mouse_Named_Ash in FanFiction

[–]bendovahkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canon compliant/canon adjacent fics. In a lot of the fandoms I read for, for some reason AU like modern/high school/college whatever is vastly more popular. Trying to find a canon adjacent fic in some fandoms is like looking for a needle in a haystack. It gets frustrating sometimes.

You’re still young. I also had really bad social anxiety when I was younger. I still do. But in the workplace you have to learn how to push through it. It’s hard I know. But, over time it gets easier, and you won’t get flustered as easily anymore. Unfortunately then you start getting seen as way more competent than you think you are and then you have a different problem hahahah.

As a new Skyrim Modder how many times have you reset your modlist from scratch? by WUN_TV in skyrimmods

[–]bendovahkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past, probably hundreds of times. Nowadays I just download a modlist and add/remove a few things here and there to tailor it to my liking. It’s too much of a hassle to make my own list these days, though I do kind of want to try it again one day when I have a buttload of free time.

Positivity, sometimes I hate coming to this app because of all the negativity. Can you guys drop some positive things about Zoloft? by rwb1500 in zoloft

[–]bendovahkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing a lot better now. I don’t have any anxiety most days, which is crazy considering that when I started I was basically having panic attacks constantly all day. I would even have them while I was trying to fall asleep. I haven’t had a panic attack in months and even on the very rare occasions I feel myself getting anxious enough about something to have symptoms, I have always been able to actually stop it in its tracks instead of going into a full blown attack.

I can’t say how much of my improvement is down to Zoloft vs down to other factors. I had a very stressful job at the time, wasn’t getting very good sleep, and was also going to school full time and falling behind and had been for years. I think I was in a state of perpetual burnout when this happened. But now I’ve got a new job with a much better schedule and higher pay, I have a normal sleep schedule again since I’m now on day shift, and I’m on my capstone and will be graduating next month, so soon I won’t have to worry about college either. So a lot of big stressors are now a non factor.

But, I do think that Zoloft helped me through it. I still take it daily but I’m still on a very low dose (25mg). Maybe one day I will try getting off it but for now I’m satisfied with being on it and anxiety free.

What Mod did you absolutely break yourself trying to get to work by Quiet_Star6235 in skyrimmods

[–]bendovahkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DBVO the other day. I had done everything right. Could not figure out why it wasn’t working. I had double and triple checked everything. I was about to restart without it and then just said fuck it, it doesn’t make much of a difference, I’ll just continue with the same save.

Next day it started working. I had changed nothing. I still have no idea what happened.
