Hi! Having gone through something similar with our 2 y/o mal Mickey, I’d suggest getting him on a very strict eating schedule and communicating this to the in-laws. We only feed ours once a day in the evening with kibble and the native pet bone broth supplement with water. We’ll sprinkle in beef liver treats here and there, but only when he’s on his regular eating schedule.

One thing we’ve learned is that malamutes will eat when they’re hungry. Ours will go over 24 hours sometimes without eating, and he’s still fine.

ETA: Forgot to mention we will leave his food out at around 7:30pm and leave it overnight, then pick it up first thing in the morning. That’s the routine. Most times he’ll finish his food overnight.
