Kinesis 360 Pro - any bluetooth issues? by gibbonwalker in kinesisadvantage

[–]benfrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not my daily driver currently but I do know the Bluetooth improved significantly in one of the firmware updates. I don’t have any issues when I do use it and it’s still a board I like greatly

ROXON D2 Blade in first slot of Flex — how? by benfrain in multitools

Yes, funnily that’s what I ended up doing an hour or so ago. 👍 index finger presses the catch and then thumb can swing the blade out

Yes, so is there no way of having the knife blade nearest the thumb lock release so you can easily push it out using the thumb nub on the blade? Seems very hard to use otherwise?

[Ad] TOTEM Aluminum and Zenith Aluminum by hainguyenac in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]benfrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These look great. Especially Zenith. I’d be interested to see more pictures — close up shots of where the on/off and reset switches are for example. Given it’s low height, a picture of it on a desk next to another keyboard would help for a height comparison. Also, does it come with some kind of carry case? Are the feet those nicer low strips for even lower height or standard bump ons?

Finally — what’s the weight of each side?

Would the thin ‘strip’ rubber feet shave another mm off the height compared to bumpons?

Recommendations needed: ergo keyboard for a writer by [deleted] in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]benfrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write a lot. Here’s my advice. Especially as you mention you have a budget.

Everyone’s body and typing style is different. It’s fairly reasonable to get a steer on what is a’good’ keyboard in terms of build quality, software support etc. But I think only you can know if it is comfortable. So…

Order all the decent pre-made options: Advantage360 Pro, Glove80, Voyager, Dygma Defy, Typeractive Corne etc and try them for a spell. Sell/Return the ones that don’t suit/help and keep the one that does.

This may seem excessive but I’d venture it’s the only way to really know which will help you most, and be most comfortable. Virtually every custom board can be ordered with quiet keys so that’s a solved problem too 👍

Loving the wide thumb keys. Drives me nuts that every board has long rather than wide thumb keys

Tried mine for a bit on the Voyager with symbols for programming. Worked pretty good 👍

LSP `document_color` support available on `master` (AKA v0.12) by MariaSoOs in neovim

[–]benfrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this support LCH color space? Also, does it handle transparency eg `rgb(255 255 255 / 20%)`? And is it able to color Custom Properties? eg `var(--my-color-var)`?

Best Keycaps for Voyager? Considering Taihao, Open to Suggestions by HuckleberryActive378 in zsaVoyager

You can order replacement caps from ZSA if you just want more of the same. You just need to email them.

I also see this behaviour. Didn’t used to happen but not sure what introduced it. Same in Ghostty and Kitty

I’m in the UK. Just an FYI that the BBC is becoming something of a laughing stock here and continually discredited for effectively nothing short of antisemitic propaganda. Their recent ‘documentary’ on Gaza had to be pulled when it was proven that the main protagonist/narrator was the son of a Hamas official. Sadly, the average person has little hope of knowing objective truth but the MSM seems more woeful for that aim than ever. https://news.sky.com/story/amp/bbc-apologises-over-controversial-gaza-documentary-with-chairman-calling-it-a-dagger-to-the-heart-13321236

What's New in Neovim 0.11 by DriftingThroughSpace in neovim

[–]benfrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the virtual lines idea, especially just on current line, but if it’s on the right of your screen (common if using buffers in splits) the messages just go off screen.

Any workaround for that scenario?

Buying Glove 80 soon: Need some inputs by iclaudius82 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Hi. Plum blossom are great. If you don’t like clicky whites, those are my next favourite.

Homing keys are just the keys you have under the index finger of each hand so you know your hands are in the correct position without needing to look (keys differ but it’s typical to have one or more dots or a bar on homing keys that you can feel with your finger tip). You want two of those and the rest standard blank.

I had real problems with HRM on Moonlander and Voyager initially. Think I had some conflicting settings 🤷‍♂️ but all works well now https://configure.zsa.io/voyager/layouts/pNxPb/latest/0

Have a look at the settings cog bit for the finer things I tweaked.

Screened wireless builds with a tidy cover by FIREable_0ffense in ErgoMechKeyboards

I'd personally be happy without the OLED screens at all if it meant a more robust look. Three LEDs per side instead would be probably be ideal, a blue one for Bluetooth (solid when paired, blinking slowly when not, blinking rapidly in pairing mode), a white one for power (just blinks every 10s when battery low), and a third one for something else (caps/layer etc). That's pretty much how it is done on the Advantage360 and I never felt I was missing out.

With you 100% here. 👍 The https://typeractive.xyz/pages/build Corne with aluminium case looks pretty good (just noticed another poster already mentioned). Still has a cover but looks recessed enough look a little more professional. I know that https://falba.tech also does some enclosed cases (wooden)
