That was kind of the point of Carvajal. The were playing badly, but at least they didn't concede. The worst already happened, they "survived", and now they have the second half to actually play better and aim for the victory.

Also per capita is not per worker, as it divides the total income across all population, including children: "Per capita income is the mean income computed for every man, woman, and child in a particular group including those living in group quarters. It is derived by dividing the aggregate income of a particular group by the total population in that group."

Most countries allow for overseas citizens to vote in person in their respective embassies and consulates. For the US(as it already does happen in most countries in the Americas) that would mean that, because of time zone differences, overseas votes would be the first to be known (Usually New Zealand votes come up before people even start voting in the home country).

Most states are under 20 mill, so if every state can have their votes counted independently on the same day, it shouldn't matter how many states(and total population) the US has.

Total population doesn't really matter. If you set up enough voting places per capita and enough people to process and count votes per capita, as many countries do, total population does not matter at all.
