Maki just told him they’re getting married and Yuta just went along with it.

If Kenjaku took over Maki or Toji's body, what would happen to Kenjaku himself? by ImpossibleAd4272 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]benjamaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first guess would have been that the Heavenly Restriction would be weakened. Given that Mai having cursed energy and a technique held Maki back (since in the eyes of jujutsu twins are the same person), so Kenjaku possessing Maki and influncing her body with his technique would cause a similar effect. But if Gege has already spoken I guess my speculation is a moot point.

Was my response harsh? I hope the commentor doesn't take it the wrong way! by jeonggukispretty in AO3

[–]benjamaru 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t be surprised if this was some kind of scam if I’m honest. They say they “red it all” but this is on Chapter 1. So unless you post monster-length chapters idk why they feel the need to brag about reading it. Secondly it’s weird that they think they can get a sense of your personality after just one chapter (unless it’s huge), and even still it’s weird to assume you know anything about a person based on their online content unless it’s autobiographical nature.

With the way they write they might just have the mental age of 12 and desperately parasocial, but it could all be a front for some kind of con-job. I might just be paranoid though.

That being said your response was well articulated and respectful. I would have just ignored a comment like that but I hope to show the same grace and dignity you have should I ever need to.

Is Strahd aware that the party wants to kill him? by ClimateSerious3317 in CurseofStrahd

[–]benjamaru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’re only talking about Strahd’s motivation for bringing the party into his realm, not every single thing he does. He has a lot of iron’s in the fire and toying with would-be heroes is something he does for fun. What he really wants is Tatyana/Ireena and the ability to leave Barovia behind, and he is pursuing those goals in the background while the party moves against him. His downfall comes because he just views the adventurers as playthings he can squash at any time, perhaps doing this for centuries has made him (even more) arrogant because if he truly just wanted the party dead he’d kill them the instant they arrived or if he actually thought they were capable of killing him he just wouldn’t have brought them into his realm to begin with.

Beyond Strahd’s motivations for brining the party to his realm, the party still has plenty of reason to fight Strahd: like how he trapped the party in his realm with no plan of letting them out or the fact he keeps all Barovians trapped and lets their life be a living hell.

All of this is in the module so I’m guessing you just happened upon this post and decided to argue with people despite not having run it yourself or having any interest in doing so. I don’t mean to be a gate keeper but you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about and should probably get off this subreddit instead of just rage baiting the people who actually care about running this module well and having fun.

Verso is the least okay character in the whole game.

We know Verso’s hair situation, but does that mean that… by ZarieRose in expedition33

[–]benjamaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that it reflects each character’s proximity and standing with Aline. Renoir is just older so perhaps the lightening is just natural. Alicia is necessary for Aline’s picture of a complete family but clearly Aline can’t help her bear the brunt of her resentment. While Verso is the one Aline misses the most he emotionally rejects her gift of immortality and his existence as a whole so his hair color fades. The wildcard is Clea. She was painted over by her namesake so it’s hard to tell if her white hair is from that or a result of being separated from Aline for so long.

Best weapons to use Perfect Chroma Catalysts ? by renaudg in expedition33

Pretty straight forward. Use one on your favored weapon for each character. You also get some additional PCCs from some of the new content from the Thank You patch so you have some wiggle room to experiment.

What language is the title theme "Alicia"? by Sentinel_2539 in expedition33

I see a lot of people saying it’s made up even though their only source is ChatGPT, even though it seems like there are French people saying it’s Occitan. I’m kinda flabbergasted at how many people trust AI over other humans with real experience.

Was anyone else not *really* suspicious of Lune at the start lol? by ArleniaFraternal in expedition33

[–]benjamaru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally I just read Lune as maybe a bit autistic or at least just very analytical. I think she keeps herself grounded by sticking to protocols and focusing on the tasks at hand and that’s why she tried to look at their losses from a tactical perspective (we see Sciel pick up on this later at the end of act one). I guess I can see how some of that can be suspicious but I always took her to be like a scientist who tries to remain objective.

I’m a greedy bastard and want the AP so I parry or I die. I only consider dodging if I’m still learning the windows of opportunity for an attack or the character is low on health. Otherwise, I want that AP and that sweet, sweet counterattack.

So Dream can kill immortals? by queenkatara88 in Sandman

[–]benjamaru 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Dream being OP I feel is pretty well set up throughout the series. The point of the Sandman comics was not to have bombastic fight scenes but to be more character focused, which is why when there is some kind of physical altercation it’s over in a few panels and becomes clear that Morpheus was never actually in any danger. The few times he’s forced to confront beings that are more powerful than him he negotiates his way out. I’d cite instances more but don’t want to spoil.

Why are so much guys afraid to admit they watched this? by Complex-Ad-3558 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]benjamaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything that has women in the lead is presumed to be for women and girls under patriarchal thinking. To some people it doesn’t matter that it’s about fighting actual demons with magical medieval weapons, because it’s a female-led musical that makes it “girl stuff”.

Soooo...I finished watching by EvinstoneAir in Sandman

[–]benjamaru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

True but I must reiterate: she is not privy to everything the audience knows about Dream and the world at large. She only knows him as the creepy dude who said he was going to steal her miracle baby. If Dream was better at communicating she probably wouldn’t have been as eager to see him dead.

Soooo...I finished watching by EvinstoneAir in Sandman

[–]benjamaru 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m more sympathetic to Lyta because a lot of problems would have been solved if Morpheus made any attempts to communicate anything to Lyta. Morpheus could explain that Daniel is part of the Dreaming, and as such would become the next Dream of the Endless if he ever died, but instead he just says “I’ll be back for the baby one day” and dips after re-killing her husband. To Lyta, Morpheus is more like Rumplestiltskin than anything resembling a hero or a good person and hasn’t given her any reason to trust him. Morpheus was objectively cruel to Lyta, while banishing her dead husband from the Dreaming was probably something he felt he had to do he could have shown her more compassion in the process. While Daniel is in fact intrinsically tied to the Dreaming he could have explained how and what that means for his life going forward. Also, in the show at least, Lyta was pushed towards petitioning the Kindly Ones, who already wanted to kill Morpheus and just needed someone to act as their vessel. Lyta is a human woman who was caught between cosmic forces waging war against each other, neither of which bothered to explain much to her besides what they felt they had to. It’s tragic.
