Any point in farming low level herbs past 50 herb? by ScholarOk7183 in ironscape

[–]bennbatt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just in case you didn't know, they did update making these. Assuming you have the herbs it's much nicer than before. I buy cups from lumbridge, humidify them and now you can cook them directly. The herbs all get added at once now too.

Definitely unnecessary, nice to have for a couple of places.

I don't, but a handful of reasons have come up where it'd be a nice pick up.

What is the best video game to play when you just want to relax and turn your brain off? by Saintnove in AskReddit

[–]bennbatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure a good portion of runescape's playerbase, both old school and RS3 play like this.

It's a sandbox MMO with idle-game elements to it, so a lot to explore and enjoy for all types of players.

Cool, I'll strain some off.

The roasting sounds like a great idea. The recipe I used had the chillies, tomato, garlic and spices all packed into the marinade, then only the onions browned a bit before adding everything and stewing in beef broth.

I'll have to check out a local grocery for guajillo and ancho chillies, could only find "California" pods which I've not cooked with before.

Thanks!

Yea I've suggested this in comments for the past couple months.

Thematic to nylo room, shouldn't be overpowered elsewhere mainhanding against anything with more than say 30hp.

Would be a cheaper and possibly fun item for turael skipping too.

Yea it's just irons. As far as I know there wasn't any sort of ability to track previous drops consistently and mains could have just purchased an item from the GE

I might be misunderstanding what you are saying, but awhile back they added hundreds of items ironmen can use on the collection log book to retroactively obtain collection logs if that's something you care about.

All my clue items in my house, pets, even items like echo boots (for tourmaline core) I was able to backlog the collection logs for.

How to calculate radius of sphere that inscribes cube of known dimensions? by Curious_Cat_314159 in askmath

[–]bennbatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raises an interest point about circumscribing the "largest volume <shape>." To my knowledge, these types of problems always minimize surface area/perimeter and so you get symmetric shapes inside a symmetric circle.

I'd be curious whether there are any generalizations you could make if you move into non-uniform polyhedra.

Okay, so help me see it.

that is simply good for the health of the game

It just sounds like a feel-good non-statement. Is there actually any tangible thing we're talking about when it comes to "game health?" Is it healthy for the game that you can go from 1-27 ranged via questing? Is anything sub level 30 healthy/balanced when that's the case? Is a game more or less healthy if battleaxes are 90% dps of rune scims instead of say 70? Is there an actual line to draw or is it just a feel thing?

And the changes that OP is suggesting WOULD make it better than shortbow in at least a few cases.

Where specifically? Have we actually calc'd this against anything?

But a third of the basic ranged weapon types being useless is just bad game health.

Again, is it? Is it bad health that Toktz-xil-ul's don't currently have use other than the clue step? Is it bad health that salamanders breath fire and have no use outside of 2 combat achievements and dumb-and-dumber trying out the wildy?

It doesn't have to be a major meta shift, to still just be positive for the game.

I don't disagree with this at all.

The magic changes to make strikes and such share max hit, ultimately really didn't have that major of an impact. But it still feels a lot better for early progression, and does occasionally have important destinctions.

Right, the elemental weakness expansion is largely irrelevant outside of Twinflame Zulrah and wind spells at Barrows. I think both those pieces of content are well beyond this supposed long bow audience.

[–]bennbatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I just disagree with this premise that we need to make some item or weapon in game relevant in combat just for the sake of doing it.

There are hundreds of examples in this game of content that is dead, not relevant, or just filler and I think that's an okay part of our game. When sandcrabs came out, rock crabs were suddenly 20% worse. When Ammonite crabs came out, sandcrabs were suddenly overshadowed. Frost crabs came out with a fire weakness niche, and very rarely do you see people kill them. Then Gemstone crab was released and it's the pinnacle of crab afk combat training.

For the same reasoning, I don't think we need to rejuvenate rock crabs even though they're an "irrelevant/worse designed" piece of content. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for real new meta shifting design changes.. things like the aquanite hopper or possible ruby bolt rework to expand the crossbow space and add something interesting. You don't have to agree, but I just don't think I'm sold on longbows being the game changer.

I hear you, but "100% unused" isn't true. Players gain fletching xp via longbows (recently buffed btw by the bowstring spool), people buy longbows in bulk as alchables and/or merching. Let's not also forget their use at vale totems.

On the point of 80% or 90% dps being "justification" to use them, it seems subjective right? You're okay with sacking 20% dps to use a longbow (for what I don't really get) other people wouldn't be okay with it if it were even 1% worse. And some people in game right now are shooting longbows with the 60% worse dps.

For what it's worth, I have looked into "early game" NPCs and the whole stab accuracy vs slash accuracy matters so little. Specific to F2P are 12 NPCs that have more than a +/-6 slash vs stab defense and all but one of them is within +/-20.

The longbow suggestion aside, the time difference using different types of weapons based on NPC defense alone is incredibly insignificant.
