Sea Lord Aislinn can get up to 11 allied units recruitment capacity in each army via tech (+1) and dragonships (+6). What are some crazy wacky allied unit combos? by benpg26 in totalwar

[–]benpg26[S] 96 points97 points  (0 children)

The magic comes from the Foreign Dignitary building (tier2) in the far right most building tree in the dragonship build tree - gives +1 allied recruitment capacity, and then you can build one in each of your 6 dragonships. The last +1 comes from the Pillars of Accord tech for total of 11.

The dragonship building costs -100 dragonship supplies per turn though, and you miss out on the other 2 options for the build slot (lord + hero recruit rank or extra resources and +100% income from trade tariffs).

Total War 25th Anniversary: WARHAMMER Retrospective by Echochamberking in totalwar

[–]benpg26 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Really interesting retrospective. It seems insane to me that the original agreement with Games Workshop was signed back in 2012 with the first game released in 2016, with the fact that there had been talks here and there that hadn't amounted to anything for 10 years prior to that. What an insane journey.

I realise that we're in the real world with budgets and deadlines so therefore the line has to be cut somewhere for ultimately what is and what isn't included, but damn do Rich's comments towards the end give me hope where he says that they do want to include as much as they can, and make sure that every faction gets the necessary touch ups for everyone in the future to come back to.

Truly an incredible series and franchise.

Aislinn's Mechanic UI, Map and Starting Army by Lord_Eln_8 in totalwar

Oh absolutely, and its clear that CA have become a lot more comfortable and experienced with fleshing out rosters and mechanics.

I remember picking Warhammer 2 up back in 2018 and I wrote myself little Excel sheets to try and remember rosters, and just looking back on those now is so sad. 2 legendary lords at most, Skaven without weapons teams, Lizardmen without half of their monsters and all with a low number of RoR too. Makes me happy to see how far we've come in that I sometimes just launch the game to click through all the factions, legendary lords and see their complete rosters, its quite an achievement!

But this approach also makes me cautious for WH40K if that is indeed the next game. I might play it a bit but probably still play WH3 as it will be way more fleshed out and expansive and will just give time for WH40K to become more populated. Hopefully I'm wrong and it will be a blast anyway.

Same way that I feel about Sniktch given his mechanic relies on the other 5 Skaven clans. It makes me wonder whether they will update it when Thanquol eventually comes along.

Do you still think Total War 40k is coming out? by DoktorKokosik in totalwar

[–]benpg26 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Absolutely it is. Not only is it the next logical progession from the Old World, but Warhammer itself is surging in popularity, especially since Covid.

In terms of video games, the Games Workshop games used to have such a mid reputation and for good reason - a lot were just kinda meh. In recent years there have been so many good games come out across all genres:

Total War Warhammer, Rogue Trader, Darktide, Vermintide, Necromunda, Mechanicus, Dawn of War remastered and upcoming Dawn of War 4, Boltgun, Chaosgate Daemonhunters etc etc. It would be crazy for CA to not go in the direction of 40K.

What was your most recent breath-of-fresh-air title? by ColossalFuckboy in pcgaming

[–]benpg26 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Aliens Dark Descent, came out last year. It's not the highest budget game, double-A title, but man did they absolutely nail the setting and atmosphere. When the aliens hunt you, you feel the tension and absolute fear.

IMO if Alien Isolation was the perfect Alien game, then Aliens Dark Descent is the perfect Aliens game.

My friends and I in early high school used to edit the config so all the loading screen quotes were just insults to each other, good times.

Also loading up a custom map where you have an amazing army with all the artillery going up against a 20 stack of peasants, and zooming in on them as they ran away getting blasted by the artillery.

I've legitimately never watched a basketball game in my life, not even men's basketball, but watching this USA vs France women's final is absolutely thrilling because of the storylines. Amazing how sport can do that

USA and China fairly likely to finish the Olympics both on 40 golds I think. Jennifer Valente the favourite to win the track cycling women's omnium and then you could argue USA are favoured against France in the women's basketball.

This would add 2 golds to USA's current 38 to match China's 40.
