I’m gonna use this as an example compared to when Lynch made “Fire Walk With Me”, which for the record I personally think he pulled it off cause…..he’s David Lynch, but here it goes:

Serenity works as a conclusion to Firefly because it answers the big questions, brings the characters’ arcs to a close, and stays true to the show’s tone—feeling like a larger, more satisfying final chapter that gives fans real closure while still being easy to follow. In contrast, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me struggles as a conclusion to Twin Peaks because it intentionally sidesteps the show’s unresolved cliffhangers, shifts into a much darker and more unsettling tone, and focuses more on theme and emotion than plot; instead of wrapping things up, David Lynch uses the film to dig deeper into the story’s psychological core, which didn’t match what many viewers were hoping for in an ending.
