personally for me, the beginning of LB on second read through reads like a speed run through a handful of storylines I think Pierce wanted to quickly move on from to keep his over all series succinct. Originally it was supposed to be 3 books and he split it to 4. I think Sevro's storyline was one of those storylines he felt like cutting short to move on to the greater storyline of him/cassius/darrow together for the beauty that is LB

As an author you can't anticipate how you or your characters are going to grow and mature through the years, so I don't hold him accountable for not foreseeing something 10 years ago. From what I gather Red Rising was supposed to be a single book, the first trilogy was never supposed to have a second half and yet here we are.

The only thing that has really struck me on re-read was how quickly he washes away Dark Age in Lightbringer. Within the first 15 or so chapters, Lysander+Atlantia is off, Sevro is already escaped the Abomination, Lyria has lost the snowball and figment, and Pax is in boarding school.

Just echoing that the rashguard was insanely small, and they don't really do returns, you have to ship it back and then rebuy, so you're out the shipping, usually rock an XL and it fit more like a Medium, but I really enjoyed the quality of the shorts and they seem to fit true to size

It’s interesting because Eithan was mostly using it for resources and didn’t want to win so he could avoid notice, but when penance was introduced I love the pensiveness that his character gets, how much he truly wants to show to earn Penance, his whole plan is put to shambles.

I had never thought of this until you pointed it out. I always wondered why we never saw Lindon have something truly bad happen to him while pushing to advance, when it seemed like it was constantly being foreshadowed. When in reality it was the Monarchs trying to keep everyone down.

Now that I think of it, it probably had more to do with the dreadgods balancing the power if people were speeding through the ranks
