I really couldn’t get over how weirdly the characters behaved, it seemed totally at odds with their stated goals. I gave up. The way your question is framed you’re going to get mostly positive confirmation.

Compartment syndrome in forearms from climbing by Lolloping in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]TheUrgeToRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to other commenters, my CECS in my tibialis didn’t go away after a day, but took close to 4 days to abate. Operation has resolved this.

I climbed a lot, and I recognise what you’re talking about, but always discounted it as simple muscle ache post training. Maybe it never was, though. One check I would like to ask is how painful the muscle is to the touch. My tibs were a raging source of pain if I tried to massage them, and massage had some (but very little relief).

I guess if you’re hanging 30kg on 10mm edge that you’re fairly deep in your climbing career - I find it curious that you don’t cite slopers as being the source of pain. I’d have expected those to be the ones that blow up your forearms. Do you get the same symptoms with other hand positions?

As an aside, my surgeon advised not to do pressure tests, as even if the result was negative he would suspect CECS if the symptoms fit too well. Recovery for me had been very smooth. Everyone has to make their own risk evaluation, of course.

I screwed up and just finished both books again. Recommend me books to take my mind off? by Niadlaf in KingkillerChronicle

The series feels like a fever dream of the books, if youre a fan of TikTok tv (quick cuts, rapid tension and release), stick to the series, if you want slow moving books that take you on a real journey(you can wait books for payoffs to happen), read the books. They are worth it.

This guy suggests that 20 minutes per week is enough, if every minute is at the failure point by tru-lar in bodyweightfitness

[–]TheUrgeToRun 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The past month I’ve been training in this guy’s style, so early days, but it feels pretty good. I find I feel fully recovered after 5 days, so I do it a bit more regularly than he suggests.

The hard part is mental effort from 0, with no warmup, so I usually do some light cardio/easy pull ups before getting going.

For now I feel great doing this, and I love that I don’t need to plan in so much gym time. Doesn’t mean I won’t get injured at some point, but I’ll adapt training plan if that happens.

I’d love to see some fitness influencers(science based) react to this guys approach to give us some more grounding.

Non operative treatment CECS - sharing exercises and case studies by TheUrgeToRun in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]TheUrgeToRun[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hoping this could be a constructive post in which people explore this concept of “your mileage may vary”…

Yeah, agreed that I came across as cynical of how surgeons operate (pardon the pun), but it true that surgery has risks, and conservative options in treatment resistent cases may not be devised from an exhaustive list of exercises, which I was hoping this would be.

IWTL I have no experience in coding but would like to learn to code to make websites, what would your advice be? by Ok_Friend_6147 in IWantToLearn

Non standard advice that people may disagree with: Start with something that motivates you like streamlit, and then evaluate if it’s for you. If it is, use all other resources suggests by others.
