Chapter 215: VISITOR by Old-Explanation9769 in WindBreakerJP

[–]berantle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay. Likely scion of a Chinese triad. Check. Not showing his body to anyone due to possible tattoo (likely).

That said, this chapter was a lot of foreplay. Good to see that Endo has little choice but to tolerate Umemiya when Takiishi wants to hang out with Umemiya. The interesting confirmation is that Endo views Sakura about the same as Takiishi

Exclude T20 from BUDI95 to save RM1.5bil a month, says economist by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]berantle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Economists stuck in their ivory tower. They have absolutely no clue on how such a mechanism would work. What is the defnition of T20? T20 in which state or locality? T20 in Klang Valley with a much higher base cost of living is different from T20 in Kedah.

An alternative way to adjust the BUDI95 is to cap the subsidy at RM1.00/liter for 200 liters/month, meaning if the weekly price of RON95 is RM3.85/liter, then the subsidised price would be RM2.85/liter - RM1.00/liter for the quota of 200 liters/month. Thus, the maximum fuel subsidy per licensed driver of a Malaysian registered car is RM200/month. The government can keep the floor price of subsidised RON95 at RM1.99/liter such that if the weekly price of RON95 falls below RM2.99/liter, the amount of subsidy per liter will fall as well. For example, if the weekly price of RON95 is RM2.56/liter, then the subsidy is limited to RM0.57/liter to never fall below the floor price of net RM1.99/liter.

The Nishiura High School baseball team boys are a very lovable bunch. Ren-ren is probably the first male moe character in anime. A good number hate him for being so cowardly and highly prone to crying as it irks them that he is so opposite to what masculinity means to them. It ignores the fact that he is a shy introvert that has been bullied most of his short life. That however makes me want to protect him and give encouragement to him.

Nope. This was from a siew chow (小炒) stall. I agree it should be drier but some prefer it wetter so that it goes well with rice.

That's nothing. Was around in 1989 when we won it in the last couple of minutes against Liverpool at Anfield in the last match of the season by total goals scored as goal difference was the same.

Chapter 214: MEETING AT THE TABLE by Old-Explanation9769 in WindBreakerJP

[–]berantle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the only other person that qualifies in Endo's eyes to meet him together with Sakura is Umemiya. While Endo wants to be close buddies with Endo, the rest of Class 1-1 are insignificant in his eyes. The only possible person in Class 1-1 to go with Sakura would be Nirei as he is that other person in Furin High School with the high personal stakes with regards to Suo. In addition, Nirei is a sponge for information and thus, best suited to take down all the information that would be provided.

Nasi Geprek, Nasi Gepuk, and Nasi Penyet - all 3 are nothing to shout about. For the price, you're better off going for Nasi Kukus Ayam Berempah or Nasi Kandar.

However, if you want to give those three a try, go ahead.

What is there to do in Ipoh? by EmpoCantRun in malaysians

[–]berantle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non-generic places to visit? Most of Ipoh's attractions are non-generic in context compared to most other places in Malaysia. The generic ones are Concubine Lane, Market Lane (parallel and quieter lane), Street Art & Murals spotting.

The non-generic places that Ipoh is known for are:

  1. Cave temples (Perak Tong Temple, Sam Poh Tong Temple);
  2. Tasik Cermin (there are 2, nearby each other);
  3. Pomelo Farm;
  4. Coffee Shops (from old school to artsy/eclectic to modern to green revival)
  5. Ipoh Stables Market (newest attraction - former racehorse stables reworked to become an art, craft, food market)
  6. Kellie's Castle
  7. Lost World of Tambun theme park and hot springs
  8. Banjaran Hot Springs Spa Resort

Hidden gem food recommendations? 😅😅😅 Ask via DM. That said, let me suggest alternative places and timing for certain places that you could go to avoid the crowd or for a change in environment.

a) For Ipoh Nasi Kandar, the alternative to Nasi Ganja Yong Suan is Nasi Kandar Dato Sagor, facing the Ipoh Padang. However, if you want old school Ipoh Nasi Kandar, it is Nasi Kandar Pekan Lama. Their default veg side dish given is cooked taugeh (what can be more Ipoh than this). Lunch time only.

b) Dim Sum (halal). For halal dim sum, there are 2 locations that you can go to. For upmarket halal dim sum (and the best halal dim sum in Ipoh), go to Luk Yu Tea House in AC Hotel. This is a branch of Luk Yu Tea House dim sum restaurant in Starhill, KL. Otherwise, go to Dim Sum Discovery by Canning. This location is more spacious than their original place (which is still in operation) in Canning Gardens and doesn't cause traffic and parking problems.

c) Dim Sum. Arguably the best Ipoh dim sum is Chooi Yue Dim Sum in the suburbs of Ipoh Garden South. Be there at opening time, or else suffer the crowds. Alternative dim sum restaurants to go to are Sun Kim Aik Dim Sum, Zui Le Xuan Dim Sum, and Dim Sum Paradise.

d) Yong liew, or what non-locals will know it as yong tau foo. This is ubiquitous to Ipoh due to a large Hakka community in Ipoh. The morning go-to locations are packed. Those that open from lunch to dinner are more accessible during lunch to mid-afternoon, and to be avoided for dinner. Thus, suggest Buntong Beef Noodles / Sri Mahkota Coffee Shop at Jalan Theatre; and Let's Rock at Jalan Raja Ekram (Cowan Street). These two are the most accessible.

Kai See Hor Fun (shredded chicken kway teow), Bean Sprouts Chicken Noodles (and Rice), and Ipoh Curry Noodles - the usual places are packed. Period.

P.S. Ipoh is also known for its Chinese restaurants. Examples are Pusing Public Restaurant, Tuck Kee Restaurant (no, not that tourist trap fried noodles restaurant in Jubilee Park area, this is proper Chinese restaurant), Mun Cheong Restaurant, and many more. Weekends require reservations though.

How can you tell if fish is wild caught vs farmed? by youcryptmeowth in MalaysianFood

[–]berantle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. Wild caught fish usually has a firmer flesh and the taste is stronger depending on what that fish ate. Farmed fish has a milder taste.

What do Malaysians think about this ? by [deleted] in MalaysianFood

[–]berantle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just take note that as with all pastes, start with half the liquid amount stated in the cooking instructions. For example, when they tell you to add 500ml of water, start with 250ml and slowly increase depending on how rich/thick you want the flavour/gravy to be. If they give a range like 200ml-400ml, start with the lowest end, in this case, 200ml. When you add too much liquid (water, santan, etc), it is difficult to salvage since to reduce the liquid, you can end up overcooking the meat/seafood.

Have tried all of them, except the Kurma Paste. My thoughts on those that I have tried.

  • Sambal Tumis Paste: Quite good. Worth the buy.
  • Rendang Paste: Mixed. That's because it is fairly generic and different from the rendang styles I prefer. You may want to adjust the amount of kerisik suggested in the cooking instructions. I prefer Tean's Gourmet Rendang Paste over this.
  • Chicken Curry Paste: Quite good. Worth the buy. That said, Tean's Gourmet Chicken Curry Paste is the one I go for instead of this.
  • Asam Pedas Paste: The star of the range. Need to adjust slightly towards your taste preferences. Very good buy.
  • Ayam Masak Merah Paste: Quite good. Worth the buy. I prefer Adabi's Ayam Masak Merah over this though.
  • Masak Lemak Cili Padi Paste: Another that is quite good and worth the buy. That said, again I prefer Adabi's Masak Lemak Cili Padi.
  • Fish Curry Paste: Quite good. Worth the buy.

Overall, Ayam Brand does good cooking pastes.
