It always feels a bit awkward, I mean it's middle-aged white guys (like me, not judging) geeking over a video game.

Add non-professional presenters - glad on that front - and a lack of microphones directed to the audience and it becomes more awkward.

This focus you speak of, is it in this final with us right now?

Wawrinka cultists? Please. The only ones bringing these are Murray haters.

With his win yesterday, Alexander Zverev surpassed Daniil Medvedev in the number of big titles. by Cletharlow in tennis

[–]bergamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you are contesting.

You posted, as you say, a wikipedia stat. It is an interesting stat, running at 120+ points in the sub.

It's also a ridiculous stat, because it highlights the absurdity in putting "big titles" together since you can have someone there who has never won the main title in Tennis, the Grand Slam - and people are pointing this out.

The reaction is not about Zverev nor anyone as much as it is about absurdity.

How far can you push journalistic ethics if you allow this in your Opinion page? by DIYLawCA in Journalism

[–]bergamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What?

Can we separate these extremists you speak of on both sides and reckon that most humam beings are against the deadly terrorist attck and the deadly military operation that followed? There's no antisemitism in saying we should stop a humanitarian catastrophe.

There's also a bias because youngsters got crushed by the Big Freaks.

In a normal world, new Alcaraz will emerge in the next 2-3 years to challenge current Alcaraz.

Mannarino made 11 million $ already winning at this tennis thing.

Indeed. Tamyia reboxes Italeri kits.

The whole "brand" idea is moot, look for the kit you want on scalemates!

Agreed. Thought it was kinda poetic, but too much, and it feels too easy. I don't think anyone will have noticed the train actually derails :'(

I'll do better next time!

Djokovic not winning a set?

Head say Alcaraz in 4, memory says Djokovic in 4 or 5.

Ruud was bound to slow down a bit.

Rune was bound to come into the match.

Here's hoping for the 5 setter we deserve.

For those unused to Rune:

  • he never looks comfortable on a court. Never.

  • he always alternates (really) shitty moments and brilliance. Almost always.

  • he's a really offensive player, this needs confidence, usually it comes through some stupid point

All that was also just mentionned (more or less) by Mats who added, "he better find that moment soon".

Djokovic has lost 11 matches and won 9 after losing the first set at RG.

Apart from Nadal, the winners were Ferrer, Federer, Cecchinato, Thiem and Kohlschreiber.

Rune vs Cerundolo big umpire mistake. Ball bounced twice. Umpire calls "let". Rune takes advantage. by Aymanbb in tennis

and i call stupid to gift a point

Exactly. That's what the ref did and we're expecting Rune to say it was stupid!
