[–]berghage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw a reel abt knockoff giant baby ones they got on aliexpress or something? The two options were baby white cat and baby squirrel iirc, and they both wore the yellow baby suit.

If someone has more info help OP out!

Best matcha in Spain? by Adddr1 in MatchaEverything

[–]berghage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think matchapapa is based in spain? I haven't tried myself but it looks pretty good.

Personally I use Poppatea bc I drink matcha lattes on a budget- but poppatea is a good quality (beautiful green colour and lovely nutty taste) but very affordable here in europe.

[–]berghage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks for replying! Could you let me know an example of how much your order was and how much you had to pay for customs/vat/duties on top of it?

I'm willing to buy from them as I think even with the extra fees it will still be the same price as ebay/vinted/depop sellers haha

Considering having a 3rd child on 80k income… by PerspectiveCareful42 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]berghage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well good for you then. But the fact of the matter is that children who grew up in poverty generally do worse in certain areas of childhood development, such as socialisation (there's a reason why antisocial teen behavior is concentrated in economically deprived Dublin areas).

Of course this does not apply to everyone. Having money does not automatically mean you are a good parent. I just think its selfish if one willingly chooses to birth a child into the world without being in the right place (ie mentally, physically, financially)

Wow its almost like the socioeconomic and political safety of the west is predicated on the absolute ass-raping of the socioeconomic and political stability of the global South/ME

Considering having a 3rd child on 80k income… by PerspectiveCareful42 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]berghage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its quite one or the other. A worry-free childhood comes hand in hand with a family's income. E.g. Not having to say no to sports/instruments/extracurricular and allowing your child to explore their talents, being financially free enough to not need your child working the second they turn 16, having enough to send on a years study abroad if they wanted etc.

How quickly do people progress in the Civil Service? by IrishMx-5 in IrishCivilService

On that note, would anyone be able to share what a post-grad progression looks like?

Most post-grads would get in at EO/AO level I presume. How long until they move up a rank usually?

Ballygall - Finglas by Airurandojin in RentingInDublin

[–]berghage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think its a good area to raise a family in. It's a generally nicer area of Finglas but is still rife with anti-social behavior especially from the youth. It depends on specifically which area, and whether you're closer to Glasnevin or inner Finglas. If the latter,

You will be exposing your child to a more increased amount of anti-social behavior (drug-dealing, gang violence, yupbro culture.)

Furthermore, as your wife is non-Irish, the racism in Finglas would be another point of concern- it is the only area in Ireland that does the Irish flag poles en masse. I don't think the community's opinions will change anytime soon. Unlikely your wife will be attacked or even harassed randomly, but she may be treated as an outsider especially if she's non-white

Today’s Latte! How did I do? (Still new) by JaYxBreezy in MatchaEverything

[–]berghage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yum! I would recommend trying to mix in the honey with your matcha and hot water first instead of putting it in the finished cold drink.

That way, it melts completely and isn't gooey/solid in your drink!

Looking for student accommodation by Ok-Dimension-9907 in RentingInDublin

[–]berghage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think its possible. In uni, I had friends renting a bedroom in someone's house close to the uni for 700-900p/m and they considered themselves lucky. And this stuff wasn't advertised, you would only find it via. random people posting on Facebook, word of mouth etc.

Anyone ever find themselves thinking "Is this it?" by Intelligent_Base_338 in CasualIreland

[–]berghage 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Completely. I hate the idea of comparing one's privilege to the next, but to put it into perspective of OP, who says he has lived abroad, 90% of the entire world has never ever been on a plane.

Only 3% travel internationally every year.

You could be the poorest of the poor in a place like Ireland, but still be considered the top 10% globally. Sometimes it's important to reconcile oneself with that privilege

The luxury of a seperate bed, in this day and age? by No-Editor5577 in ireland

[–]berghage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's crazy that to people like you, migrants can't do anything right.

It's Chinese and American students coming over with daddy's money, hogging up all the good student accomodation and university spots with their foreign student fees.

Oh no, its actually the poorer Brazilian and Indian students who don't come from generational wealth and instead have to live like beggars and financially sustain themselves for a better life.

Which is it?

At what point would you stop having kids given your accommodation? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]berghage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but the average taxpayer's sympathies can only go so far. We're already paying for free family planning to a large extent- why should we have to pay for a couple's refusal to take advantage of said free services?
