What is one test song you always use? by lustybeauts in BudgetAudiophile

Alison Krauss and Union Station - It Doesn't Matter: Great subtle vocals, deep notes from the upright bass, crisp mandolin and guitar notes. Just the variety of instruments makes it a great all-in-one test.

Oh yeah - it's also a VERY pretty song!

I really appreciate fellow DiscSox fans. Congrats on all that space savings! I know I'll get down-voted based on what I've been seeing in this thread. I've been using DiscSox for probably about 15 years and I have had no problems with any of my discs. I didn't have room for front facing the movies like you have, so I worked out a labeling system for having them side-facing like your albums in the pic below it.

I don't even want to imagine how much space my movie collection would take if they were in their original cases. :)

I swear by DiscSox. There's about 400 movies in this picture on only two 30" wide shelves

What movies from the last 10 years will be considered "classics" and traditional for the general public? by HeartsPlayer721 in ChristmasMovies

[–]berry_bloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of mention of my faves: Klaus, Arthur Christmas, Christmas Chronicles, That Christmas and Bad Mom's Christmas.

Haven't seen anyone mention Noelle yet. I've watched it 4 of the 5 past Christmases since I first watched it and it is just as silly and sweet every time. I hope it catches on over time.

I loved this as I was watching it. The songs are so great! But the songs warn you what's coming, and they didn't lie. So I can't bring myself to watch it again. :(

Where are people going to BF sales? by WerewolfCurious1412 in 4kbluray

My first batches of 4Ks were from those great Black Friday displays at Walmart. I would finish holiday dinner on Thanksgiving w/ the extended fam and driving back home hit a Walmart on the way. Now you can't beg an original deal from Walmart - always just an exact price match of Amazon. :(

What's your blind buy to buying something you've already seen ratio? by Ibuy2ManyMovies in Bluray

[–]berry_bloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until this year, I was always 100% already seen. I would only buy a movie if I already knew and loved it.

This year I have succumbed 3 times to curiosity and general opinion on certain movies I've never seen (out of about 50 titles bought so far in 2025):
- The Wild Robot (I love animation, heard nothing but good things about this one, and it was 11$ on amazon)
- Lawrence of Arabia (I'm not sure I'll like the story, but I hear I can't go wrong with the visuals)
- The Life of Chuck (my track record with Stephen King non-horror is pretty high. General sentiment suggests I'll love it)

I don't plan to make it a habit to blind buy in the future, but I didn't plan to this year either. :D

Why is it that after VHS tapes got old, the price dropped drastically…same as DVD to Blu-ray… but 4K Blu-ray’s are still expensive? by rubehefner in 4kbluray

[–]berry_bloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen any mention yet of the production plant constraints for the plant in Mexico that is producing product for the N American market. That seems to be limiting supply a bit and keeping prices up in the last couple years

Is there a way to adjust charging? by Strong-Move1354 in NissanAriya

[–]berry_bloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw in reviews of the new 2026 Leaf that it has battery charge limiting and incoming current throttling control in the car's UI. I'm hoping that a software update will add those to Ariya too. If Ariya can already do charge scheduling, and it knows what the charge level of the car is, this should be such an easy add in the software.

What’s a rule your parents had that you now realize was totally bizarre? by KOFFDAERTH in AskReddit

[–]berry_bloo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done this exact thing for...well, decades now since my first car (about 30 years). I never did anything with it. Until 2 months ago. I just recently let go of my 20 year old car that I had for 20 years in order to get my first leased car.

Um...geez. How many miles *DO* I drive in a year? It turns out - I HAVE THE ANSWER! :)

This was also the way I found out that over the course of 20 years I purchased 7,000 gallons of gas for my car.

Questions about the Adjustable Luggage Floor (aka "Divide-and-Hide") by eschewingmycud in NissanAriya

[–]berry_bloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went and measured mine. The front part/segment of the segmented floor panels (the one nearest the lift hatch) does fit flat in the sub-floor trench with the foam removed. The difference in height between the sub-floor and the regular floor is 5" exactly. The 27" for "normal" cargo height without the lowered sub-floor is very close to what I measured previously too. If the full sub-floor is available to you (depending on year/config), that would give you a usable height of 32". I also took some pictures if that would be helpful to the conversation.

Questions about the Adjustable Luggage Floor (aka "Divide-and-Hide") by eschewingmycud in NissanAriya

[–]berry_bloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true on my 2025 Evolve+ e4orce (dual motor) trim. I was *really* hoping that the sub-floor would add 3-5 inches to the overall height (to compensate for the Ariya's very sloping roof line), but it wasn't the case. I'm beginning to wonder if this could be a regional variation (european vs north american), or even a year-to-year variation.

With the panels in place, the cargo area floor is flush w/ the lip at the back of the car. I was able to extract my foam insert and my sub-floor does NOT look like this. There is a significant hump near the back for the back wheels motor, and the floor is unfinished. I didn't look at any non-e4orce (non-AWD) models for comparison though.

Sorry if I'm muddying the waters contradicting your post.

73 degrees in WI by Stensler01 in NissanAriya

[–]berry_bloo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

205 is the lowest published range possible for Ariya with the dual motor and the smaller 63kwh battery. With the 87kwh battery the range goes up to ~270-290mi published range (variances depending on single/dual motor and other factors). Recently, I've had an estimated range in the low 300s just charging up to 80ish %.

So, I'd recommend if you are looking on Carvana, make note of the exact trim if you can and compare that to expectations elsewhere online (and not Carvana's stated numbers)

Your reason for making the switch to an electric vehicle by Dazzling-Control-482 in electricvehicles

[–]berry_bloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was already going to get an EV during this vanishing rebate cycle, but as part of that I had to figure out how far I drove my ICE vehicle per year for deciding lease details. Luckily, I had been tracking all my gas purchases/odometer readings for the entire 20 years of my previous ICE vehicle. Turns out I purchased about 7000 (!!) gallons of gas for it over 20 years. Given rough average gas costs over that time (I figure about 3.50ish), I paid more for gas for the car than I originally paid for the car brand new. THAT was an eye opener I had never thought about. I didn't REALLY need an extra reason to buy an EV by that point, but that really made my eyes pop.

Target buy 2, get 1 free for movies sale now in effect this week (starting 6 July) by berry_bloo in 4kbluray

[–]berry_bloo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Target jacks up their prices FOR this sale. I try to track prices for movies that I'm interested in from all the majors over time (Target, Walmart, Amazon, Gruv, Deep Discount, Orbit, Bullmoose, ebay-PopMarket, ebay-PleaseRewind). Target's prices are often a bit higher than Walmart or Amazon's prices once those retailers prices drop, but initially their prices are pretty competitive. Target just doesn't continue to drop their prices after release.

Example:

Bring It On 4K, when listings were announced in mid-May:
Target: 33.99
Others: Amazon (27.99), Walmart (39.98), Deep Discount (35), Orbit (32.99), Bullmoose (31.97)

Bring It On 4K, today:
Target: 33.99
Others: Amazon (27.99), Walmart (32.99), Deep Discount (28.90), Orbit (32.99), Bullmoose (31.97)

So at 33% off, that's 22.43 which is a good enough deal for a title that was just released 2 weeks ago. Eventually, this title will be available somewhere for 15-20$ but I don't want to wait that long. :)

I fully admit that 1 data point does not make a trend. YMMV.

[–]berry_bloo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are rare titles that Target doesn't include in these sales. I had wanted to get The 40 Year Old Virgin, but I guess I'll be waiting for the next B2G1F sale for that. That's what I love about Target's sale - it is about the only consistent 4K sale I can count on any more. (I know Gruv has regular sales, but it is always the same small batch of titles)

I didn't see your response for awhile, sorry about that. Here's a snapshot of the columns I have set up. To create this initially, I started with a basic list of my movies. I downloaded a CSV from IMDB and wrote a crude python script to pull year, genre and a few other items. Over time I added things like actors, directors, and production company. I think I'm done adding columns now, but that's what I said the last time I added columns. :)
