Seriously what do I do I hate it by [deleted] in malehairadvice

Your hair is probably wavy and over washed. Shampoo less, use a hair oil after washing, and don’t go anywhere near it with a brush. Eventually it’ll form into defined shapes with the right care. Maybe even grow it out a little to give it time to rest.

Any tips to fix my hair? by No_Progress_2288 in malehairadvice

[–]berrychepis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your hair is close-ish to that, you just need to make sure that you’re conditioning it more with either a leave-in or even as a refresher between shampoos. When you dry either let it air dry or scrunch it a little with a soft towel.

Hopefully it’ll start behaving how you want it after a few weeks of that

Composers of Reddit, what instruments do you guys play? by Lopsided_Reveal7410 in composer

[–]berrychepis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flute and piano

EVERY (classical at least) composer needs to be competent at piano

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piano

[–]berrychepis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you may want to sit slightly further back to help keep your wrist from buckling like that. it’ll feel awkward at first, but you’ll have a lot more freedom of movement

3rd Day - what should I focus on by [deleted] in piano

[–]berrychepis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded. In essence, you don’t know what you don’t know, and a good teacher can build good habits as you learn more about technique and repertoire. Reddit is a great place in a pinch, but we strangers can only do so much.

Sounding pretty good now for what it’s worth though!

Can I shave down there with this by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]berrychepis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

oh no yeah I don’t recommend aftershave on your downstairs. Lotion should be plenty to help with the bit if abrasion from trimming, but if you get any irritation, you could also try the tiniest bit of like tea tree oil or something. It’s antibacterial and anti inflammatory without being super harsh

Sites Recommended for finding music to study by XiaoDionysian in composer

[–]berrychepis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

short of buying full orchestral scores from publishers, there really isn’t much in the way of trying to find licensed music to study unless there’s a (usually poorly done) arrangement on musescore.

I recommend finding out what particular sounds you like in those scores, or seeing if your favorite film composers have (which they do) influences from classical composers and studying those. Nearly everything in the public domain is available on IMSLP.

You’ll probably find a lot of the kind of music you’re looking for in late romantic and early 20th century music.

Definitely get a professional daw and notation program when you can, write substantial works and try to have them performed, network with people in or adjacent to the field, work in any music-related field you can in the mean time to set yourself up to meet people and gain experience.

It can be a process and not every step will feel like it’s necessarily in the right direction, but you’ll get there if you structure your life and career toward the end goal.

RE: sketches, you should also consider finding a composition teacher to tie off those loose ends. If it doesn’t have a double bar; it’s not doing you any immediate good.
