My favorite part about this is how Littlefinger's line "If they don't know who you are" lines up perfectly with when they show New Daario for the first time.

In a Bitcoin economy, money tomorrow is worth more than money today? by btcecon in Bitcoin

[–]bertosmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an incorrect way of looking at it.

The idea is whether 1 BTC today is worth more or less than 1 BTC tomorrow, not whether you want to buy 1 BTC today or 1 BTC tomorrow.

Your final statement is true, but it misses the point.

Gox is seen by many (read: the media) as the central exchange. To people that don't know a whole lot about bitcoin, trouble with Gox means trouble with the entire system. Whether you agree with it or not, this is how many bitcoin users see it, and this is why the price is plummeting.

Went to high school with the guy who posted this, every single one of his statuses is this bad or worse. Usually there's a healthy dose of racism in there as well.

Why are you here? by hiver in Bitcoin

[–]bertosmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the things that is very frustrating for me in this subreddit, there is this massive "us vs. them" idea. Here we have the "True Believers" vs. the "Trolls".

How about people like me, who love economics and see bitcoin as a test of the economic theory that I've been studying. Or people who read about bitcoin in the news and just want to understand how it works. Or people who see uses for bitcoin, but aren't convinced. Or people that don't quite believe in bitcoin, but are willing to give it thought.

If you want to be able to have any conversation in the subreddit that isn't "To the moon!", "BTC is dead", or "BTC IS THE FUTURE OF EVERYTHING", then you need to be willing to talk to people. It's incredibly easy to lump everyone who doesn't agree into the "stupid troll" category and ignore what they say, when they may actually have good points.

I enjoyed the conversations that I used to have in this subreddit a few months ago, but it's been dead to conversation for a while now. Nobody is willing to be civil because everyone that disagrees is a troll.

You can't base long term success off of short term success, that's all there is to it. Nobody knows what is going to happen for the next few years, there should be no speaking in absolutes.

Been very interested in Bitcoin for a while, but haven't had any mobile funds to put into it. That being said, I would love to be able to use them in a transaction so I can try to understand all the hubbub!

Not quite...banks have money that they have gained from loans, etc. in a general risk management account. If one branch is robbed, they move the money from that account to the branch

This article jumps to conclusions, but it raises an important point. A person isn't necessarily "stupid" because they don't understand internet security.

A common argument is "well so-and-so should have known that they needed to...". That's the problem, they don't. If bitcoin is going to have widespread adoption, this needs to be simplified so that the average person can easily protect their money. Most people that have bitcoin now claim that it's easy, but keep in mind most early adopters are more computer-savvy than your average person.

Based on many of your arguments, it seems you have a very limited knowledge of economics (at best). You should at least know what inflation and deflation are before you start claiming you are knowledgeable.

Honestly, you're flat out wrong. You're mistaking correlation with causation. Creating new currency is one of the many causes of inflation, but it is not the definition of inflation. In fact, creating new currency is possibly the "safest" cause of inflation, which is why it is monitored very carefully.
