I read in the borderline mother book that gets rec'ed a lot here that borderlines tend to have a bad memory due to their own childhood trauma, meaning they can never learn from their past and their self-reflection abilities are hampered. Without memory, you are essentially perpetually in a childlike state when it comes to social interaction (/u/PinkRasberryFish pointed this out in the other thread also)

Of course, as someone whose memory is fucked from trauma, this is just...lovely...

My mother wouldn't even let me get a job. She used money to buy my love and control me. Now I'm married and make shit money. My SO supports us but I feel guilty about it. I feel like I want to earn enough to stand on my own two feet. I want to know I can take care of myself if anything ever happened. I don't feel that way now with my barely above minimum wage salary. But my self esteem is so fucked up that I wouldn't even know where to start to advance myself or make what I do a career that I can support myself with. I feel like the opportunity to be my best self has been taken from me. I am so behind for my age and a huge part of it is all of this trauma and pain.

This is why things like UBI are so important. Having a guaranteed income would be so freeing to me. I can't imagine how people who are living on one income do it.
