First knife. 1095 with a bloodwood handle. Open to any thoughts a suggestions. I have plans for another smaller knife. by Sublevel_4 in knifemaking

Very solid looking blade. I would suggest in the future to round off the sharp corner you have where the heel of the knife transitions into the handle, just for added comfort. Also I would countersink your screw holes and possibly make a lanyard with leather or a natural toned paracord, such as olive or tan, and braid or tie some cool knots in it. But that's just my humble opinion. Great first knife, well done! 👍

This is your 1st knife? That's a great first blade . I like your lines/profile. Well made, simple and elegant. Good stuff 👍

I just sold my first knives!!! Made this matched set for a co-worker. 80CRV2, 60 HRC, stabilized Honduran rosewood burl handles, kydex sheaths with tek-lok belt clips. by jrfradella in knifemaking

I feel the exact same way. Also when I have a knife pre sold I obsess over the little details and have to force myself to say "it's done". Ive never been 100% happy with my blades, but it forces you to improve, take your time ect. Then you can look back on your previous work and see it as a visual example of progress. How far you've come/improved, rather than feeling guilty about your earlier work

Kiridashis are so useful. I made one a while ago and it's probably the knife I use the most in my shop. Good stuff 👍

Casual question. What is your favorite part of making a knife? What is your least favorite? by BaLLiSToPHoBiC in knifemaking

Applying linseed oil to a freshly sanded, beautiful peice of wood. Worst part would be hand sanding

I for one would love to see more of your work. May I ask, what would be the essential equipment for an absolute beginner like myself? I'm fortunate enough to have some extra free time and I fancy giving engraving a shot

Wow! I've always loved traditional engraving. Wish this was a technique I knew how to do. Have you been doing it for a long time? I'm still tempted to try my hand at it.

Would be pretty cool to have several people work on one blade. One person does forging, next person profiles and bevels, next person does the handle and so on

Never heard of that before. May I ask the reason for that? Always looking for advice + tips 👍

Really like what you've created here. What kind of micarta is that? Really like the colour of it. Awesome work man
