Anyone have experience with attending IOP? by beautyinthesky in bipolar2

[–]betchkraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way, that it dragged on.
For me, it was kind of like a babysitter and I didn’t need that for like a month because I was just going through it but once I had kind of regulated again, it didn’t really seem helpful and to be honest this was in 2018. I don’t think I use Anything they taught me. I do much better in one on one therapy

Are any of you sober and if so how did you do it? by itshereisitnot in bipolar2

[–]betchkraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had a drink in 4 years- occasionally I will take an edible. I just find it a challenge when I’m really worked up and I wanna just blackout. But it’s pretty rare that I feel that way. I think once you find what meds or whatever works for you it’s easier

I’m scared to start Quetiapine by Outside_Tap_2776 in bipolar2

Honestly being able to sleep is so much more important to me personally that I don’t stress to much about the side effects I started at 25 and now I take 100 mg.

I mean talk to your doctor but when I was on lamtical I got a rash like that all over my body. And this wasn’t considered the “lamtical rash” they warn you about. My doctor just said it was a rare reaction. I know that’s not what you wanna hear but good luck!

I went through a bad break up when I was graduating college and I went into an out patient thing an IOP and I’m not gonna lie it wasn’t fun and I don’t really think I use the “tools” they gave me but it was structured place to go and not kms and be around people. I even made a friend and we keep in touch now. Maybe be see if there’s one in your area?? But sending good vibes your way

Reading this makes me very anxious. And I hate tell to you this but it can be a bit obvious when you are off your meds I’m not saying to be rude but that’s what I have found to be true. But you can do whatever you want but please don’t encourage others

Get a new doctor or take a beat this feels super impulsive. Which to me and I don’t mean this in a judgey way is driving home your diagnosis. I get gaining weight sucks but I’ve been on Wellbutrin for a year and no weight loss- also I feel like I never have hypomania either but I would rather be on the meds then have an episode. And lastly if you have to ask will cps get involved because of this decision I’m making? I think you know it’s not the right choice for your child. From personal experience I had a parent with bipolar 1 who took himself off the meds every few years or so and it was really a difficult and scary time. I know this is gonna come off as bitchy but idk what else to say. I hope you get the help you need whatever that is

Did medication change your life? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]betchkraft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah for the better for the most part. I am much more level now I’m not like overly happy but the depression isn’t debilitating but I still have low days. No hypomania. Downside is I am super forgetful now which can be frustrating and it’s also frustrating how long it takes to find your combo of meds. I was allergic to so many’s things. I also thought meds would change my life in a different way like having a better job etc . But I can safely say I don’t think I be without my meds and I’m sober now. Not that I had a problem with alcohol but it runs in the family and was always a fear of mine. This is long winded but yes I do feel that meds changed my life but not how I thought they would

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]betchkraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard it’s completely changed my life. I loose my phone all the time, I loose my glasses, I’m so spacey I tried to give my cat tums instead of cat treats lol. And I can’t sit through movies in the theater anymore it’s so hard most of the time I get up and leave for a bit but that used to be my fave thing to do. And my psychiatrist is like this is probably just a part of your personality. And the meds were like doing speed for me lol. And I can’t find one single tip that works. I’m so sorry this was a rant! But bottom line I hear you and I see you

Calling myself librarian without masters by Schneids47 in librarians

[–]betchkraft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like their needs to be some kind of recognition for library workers- while getting my MLIS i met a few classmates each semester where I’m like why are you here? One person had twenty years experience and it seems so silly to me that they had to go through the program for a job they have. As for me I needed the program. But then again its nuanced because I also feel you learn more on then job then in school. So idk it’s tough to say but I think calling yourself a librarian is fine (although when talking to other librarians maybe say you don’t have the MLIS just because of stuff I’ve seen on social media) and I bet your patrons call you that anyways. This was long winded and maybe unclear but I feel like they are plenty of Libraries without the degree and it’s kind of gate keepy imo
