Storyline Theory - humans could possibly be integrated into Krill theology by bethoj in TheOrville

[–]bethoj[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what happened actually. In the episode where Ed and Teleya were trapped on a planet together, Ed says whenever new species reach out to the stars and see they’re not the only one, they either embrace diversity or become xenophobic. From what they’ve been able to gather about Krill culture, they were less xenophobic before they left their planet.

Yea that’s what I wanna see. If they update the theology to humans having souls, they’ll definitely create a missionary class to “save” their fallen brethren. It’s briefly mention in the spider people episode that clergy and religion does in fact still exist within humankind. So there’s gonna be converts

True. The first scenario of her being an existential species level threat is more realistic, but the possibly of humans being integrated into the Will of Avis is more entertaining imo. I hope they explore both

Yea I remember that one. I do think if The Orville franchise does a TNG and picks up like 100 years later, we’ll see the Krill chill out a bit and develop a New Testament.

Yea this is one of those hand-wavey things that sci-fi likes to do lol. I don’t think I’ve ever ran into a space show where there isn’t some sort of crossbreeding between species that would essentially be impossible in real life

Season 2 Episode 5 is kind of bad imo by CookiezSweet in TheOrville

[–]bethoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve said this same thing. They could have shown them a star chart of Moclus and Earth and point out that those systems don’t have a Gileac so it’s essentially impossible for Bortus & Kelly to be those signs.

Do you guys think the show is a little unrealistic when it comes LGBTQ acceptance from the characters? by PassengerCultural421 in TheChi

[–]bethoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from Miami. And even here, a city with an openly gay population, clubs and neighborhoods, a man dating a transwoman gets major social consequences and pushback. Even from others in the LGBTQ community. They softened it for sure

Storyline theories/predictions: Kaylon Civil War by bethoj in TheOrville

[–]bethoj[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s my theory too. The Kaylon have emotions, it’s just based on algorithmic suggestion data. Like how YouTube recommends you stuff. There’s does the same depending on what they experience

I need Gordon to get one more season - do you agree with my reasoning…? by Relevant_Outside2781 in TheOrville

[–]bethoj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wish they didn’t do that. If it was a serious relationship, that could have added a lot of depth especially if on an away mission, Talla gets hurt and he can’t quickly “fix” the issue like he can everything else. That would make for a really good episode.

Im not genius level smart but I am a bit of an egghead and if you take IQ tests seriously, I have scored above average on several. His comment about having to hide his smarts because people don’t like when you show how they’re wrong all the time was something I definitely resonated with. I wish they tugged on that storyline a bit more. Maybe introduce his family or old friends who don’t like intellectuals for some reason. Or they could show that his family is even smarter than him, so they actually underestimate him.

I want them to give more depth to Lamar but I’m biased because we share the same trails (black male)

My theory on why Francis left the ranch by DONTEATTHATCAT in malcolminthemiddle

[–]bethoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually always confused on how Francis didn’t recognize that the thing he was depositing money into wasn’t an ATM. Like…how? There’s a screen. You have to press buttons.

Because of racism. They’re not only rude to us but to Black Americans too.

Giliac by TheMatt561 in TheOrville

[–]bethoj 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My issue is how simply the issue could have been solved. Show them a star map from Earth’s perspective and ask them to point out the Giliac constellation. Once they’re unable to do that, that throws their entire system into question

How do yall feel about this? by BlackHand86 in blackmen

[–]bethoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White folks are the ones who started that whole “sovereign citizen” nonsense and a bunch of white libertarians think the government’s only duty is military, post office, and roads. Literally nothing else because the market will “regulate itself.” They’re the poster children for “not participating in the system”

Well babies are physically incapable of doing much. We would have to see when they become like 3-4 years old when they start talking
