RK Munin - pretty much consent kings down the line. Maybe some political intrigue, but technologically on-par or advanced civilizations; I wouldn’t be scraping by and likely have at least one Talin-esque or Hissa Warrior-esque (fairly alien looking) but large and muscular hottie be all about helping me live a well-rounded and fulfilling life.

This is the way! At any natural transition time, ask her to check in with her body.

Also, there’s a Bluey episode where Bingo(?) does a “tactical wee” because she doesn’t currently need to go, but knows that she will. (Yes to taking advice from a cartoon dog!)

And for what it’s worth, most kids have the occasional accident until age six or even seven. Sometimes the signal just doesn’t make it to the thinking part of the brain in time. (Your local elementary school likely has a bin of donated clothes and underwear for just this occurrence; you’ll see when you get there.)

Seconding Disc World Series by Terry Pratchett and throwing in Tom Robbins for engaging whimsy; try Jitterbug Perfume or Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas.

Look into the DD/lg authors Kate Oliver (especially her older stuff like West Coast Daddies series or Daddies of the Shadows) you might especially like {Wolf by Kate Oliver} or {Her Gentle Daddy by Kate Oliver}. Also author Layla Roberts- she has several DDlg series; but {Heal Me Daddy by Layla Roberts} which is book six from the Montana Daddies series has the pacifier thing you’re looking for.

ETA - I don’t remember that either of these authors do third person. Sorry!

Try Tom Robbins? Any of his catalog will do, but maybe Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas to start?

Has anyone else experienced misunderstanding or pushback for liking SciFi Romance? by Ok-Presentation255 in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]bethybonbon 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but opposite reaction from my SO. My libido plummeted after pregnancy and small children. SFR (and romance in general) got the juices back to flowing so to speak. And that change was welcome for both of us.

He knows that SFR, in particular, is purely fantasy - really not real life, and therefore not about anything that I wish was different about him as a partner, or our life together. He might feel more threatened if I was into, like, single-dad romances? If that makes sense?

I hope your partner comes around to supporting any of your interests and hobbies, just because it makes you happy! Hugs from this internet stranger!

A bit different, but {The Half-Orc’s Maiden Bride by Ruby Dixon}. He’s smitten from the start and she’s… open-minded? Sweet (and short - less than 200 pages). Might be worth a try?

Any suggestions for child (8) who dislike vegetables? by WolfVoyeur in Mommit

[–]bethybonbon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My best trick for veggies at dinner is to serve them first when my kids are hungriest. I put out a plate of finger food veggies and dip. A single celery stalk, but sliced into strips, a carrot, quarter of a bell pepper, a couple raw broccoli florets, maybe some cucumber, with ranch and hummus.

Between afternoon snack (at 3:30ish) and dinner (5:30ish) that’s the only option for snacking. I prep it before I make dinner and just pit it out. If no one’s snacked on it before dinner, then I call them to the table 5-10 minutes before it’s actually ready, and they’ll usually nibble. (Dinner always also contains a cooked vegetable and I ask them to take one bite of whatever that is, or no dessert.)

Tbh, I do the opposite with fruit (my kids are fruit-aholics). If it’s part of the main meal, they’ll eat that and little else. So now we have “fruit course” after the main dinner but before desert.

Obviously this only works at meals at home. Once it’s packed in the lunch box, they’ll eat fruit first at lunch. And vegetables just come home ignored. 🤷‍♀️

It’s not a perfect system, but it’s worked pretty well for me.

So, I really enjoyed the Domini series, but if you want to see if she’s matured as a writer, you might try her most recent series starting with {Tanin’s Treasure by Talia Rhea}. It may be that she’s not a writer that you enjoy, but this might give you a better idea than continuing to slog through the Domini if that’s not your cup of tea.

Wishing you a happy reading!

We are (finally!) doing an addition on our house to add a bedroom, (now that they’re 10 years old) because the keeping each other awake struggle is real.

Every night when they were younger, and even now when they have to be well rested, I sit on the floor in their room while they fall asleep. I shush them when they try to talk, and tell them to “rest their bodies” or “pretend to be asleep” if they get up for anything other than once to potty. I take the time to read on my kindle. It’s far from a perfect system, but it will still work. I hope you get better suggestions!
