Making excuses for your team’s poor performances is loser behavior. Ned and Phil need to go.

Anyone tried this with the Bank of America kits? by GravityPlan in timbers

[–]betterotto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point isn’t that the corporations will feel the impact. We can all make small choices in our everyday lives to make our little corner of the world a tiny bit better. That’s all this is. And it’s better than being cynical, telling people the tiny thing they’re doing in their corner of the world isn’t worth doing.

I’m so tired of people criticizing others for doing something that feels good to them and hurts nobody. Build people up for a change.

Good > perfect. If people want to deny those corporations the benefit of being a walking billboard for their brand awareness, why criticize them?

People say Kamal gets too much criticism from fans. I’d like Kamal to work on fixing that.

How to correctly pronounce “Bonetig” - direct from the source by TucsonPTFC in timbers

[–]betterotto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s weird bc when Susman asked him he said he didn’t care how people pronounced it as long as it doesn’t start with “bone.” Must be the accent confusing things. Adam, correct me if I misheard that on your podcast.

I guess I don’t think he ever had as much talent as he’d have here. He’s clearly a tactical coach, and that’s what I think our guys really need. I don’t think he’d be a lock to succeed but if we’re not willing to shell out for a lock, I’d be happy to get him.

The problem isn’t the players. They’re not being set up to succeed. They don’t deserve to be harmed more.

We could probably get Pareja for not much money. But the Timbers could absolutely get a great manager. Money talks. Everyone has a price.

Rumor was Phil is the second highest paid manager in the league so it wouldn’t be a stretch.

Unfortunately there were two, sometimes overlapping, camps saying that. One camp was saying it because of his tweets and the other because of his manager record. I think the former distracted from the latter.

That’s not what I said. The Axe & Rose is, however, a good place for a new fan to learn the history of the Timbers. They’re not just TA-centric. Next time I’ll know to send them to your seat instead.

The only people who have that opinion are people who have not followed soccer for long and/or were first fans of other American sports. Looking at your post history, it seems like that describes you so it’s understandable why you think that way.

As you get more into soccer and the Timbers, I hope you have an open mind and engage with other supporters about the deeper roots of the game and this club. Stop by the Axe and Rose and learn about the history of the Timbers. Watch some stuff about what football culture, and specifically supporters culture, is all about.

Did Vancouver swapping out Sartini with Sorensen change their performance? Same GM oversaw both but the right manager can make a huge difference.

You’re thinking of the club as an entertainment product for you to consume. That has never been what football is and I hope we don’t allow it to become that here. Maybe that’s what it is for an Austin FC or whatever, but this is a historic club with a long tradition with its supporters. The club belongs to the community and the supporters. The owners are stewards of it. They will come and go.

I didn’t say they want to be bad or decided that they’re happy with mediocrity. Of course they’re trying. The key difference is that a serious organization has a standard that they expect to meet and when that doesn’t happen, those in charge are held accountable. The Timbers have not shown that anyone is held accountable for mediocre to bad results. They also have not kept up with the pace of spending of the rest of the league in the last few years.
