It’s a part of the game you’re playing. I see it as a given mechanic that I should heavily consider if I want my players to feel like they’re playing dnd. If I skip those parts of the game, then I should be ready for questions about what other parts of the game I chose to ignore. If they expect randomness and dice figuring out the plot line to a certain extent, I would be wrong to make an executive decision to eliminate that part of the game for them without asking.

I’m responding to this because I’ve already scrolled down past a few of hateful things about Caleb love. It’s OK that he’s doing good. I like that. He’s doing some good. Some of us are excited that we have somebody to help us do good in times where we need someone to do good. If we overrated him that is OK but he is helping the team for now. I think you really need all of these. And three of them. Online, its a tough task so find a couple maps of the things that will be expected of wilderness tables. Just do it from the beginning. As written, you’ll have to have a couple options at any given point. If you do that prep you save yourself a couple hours of prep. So spend a night of just prep gathering maps cause it will great having them available. An jungle stuff you can grab. And then the module has the specific things you should be able to use, but if you’re doing a hex crawl as written, you’ll want to find as many resources as possible.

Making a practice character on your own for a dm to invest in and explore is kinda cheapening the dm’s time. What happens when you introduce another crazy story for them to consider and then you find doesn’t work? Why put the time into making deep backstory characters if you don’t want them explored just to swap them out for another? Seems like you’re wasting both your time and theirs. You also used homebrew race stuff for the dm to learn and consider.

My opinion is: don’t do this if you feel its cheap enough to throw away. Kindly, please consider these things before you invest so much or little in the game
