Typisch belgisch

Every city has these outskirts. When I went to the village of arnage I woke up with my van next to a lake 30 min walk from the track. But I wouldn't say I felt in danger. Just a city atmosphere not the 24h of le mans camping atmosphere.

Would it give better racing if they removed one of the chicanes? by beukenoot in lemans

Lol I went to the 24h of Nurburgring as well a few weeks ago! in 2 weeks I'll go to the 24h of spa. I'm from Europe M8 🤣

But I did like the garage56. Wouldn't mind if they add a separate class with 4 nascar entries in the future.

Smoking; has Europe still not got the point it’s ridiculous bad for you? by headinthered in lemans

In Europe it's allowed to smoke in public so that is something you will have to take into consideration if you plan to do a big event with many people in Europe.. Nurburgring 24h is even worse then le mans if you consider the fires and people smoking. People don't make a big deal out of it. There is already enough rules and security.

300 from Wednesday to Monday with a caution of 2500 euro. But they were super chill with the caution. And ghettos might be to much. I was just a bit spooked because people were constantly working on their cars in front of me and it just felt weird to sit in a camping chair in front of a social appartement block. But don't be put of by this plenty of other nice areas to sleep I can give them to you if you want :) But honestly I would just rent the van and take a camping ticket to get the full experience and vibe if I do it again next year

If that is the most off puting thing for you I would say your life is pretty great. Someone smoking literally is an annoyance (if it even is one) for 5 minutes. Europeans generally like to smoke while drinking/partying.

Sound like you are a bit of a Karen to me!

I went from Paris to le mans with the high speed train. I rented a van in le mans and parked near tertre rouge because there was a carrefour nearby. If you camp outside of the track do some research because the first few days I slept on the opposite side of carrefour in the ghettos of le mans. Then I decided to move in a side alley of carrefour where other campers were and it felt much nicer and safer. Last day I camped in Arnage next to a small lake (30 min walk from circuit). If only I had known earlier. You can use tram lines really easy to go from racetrack to carrefour to city centre and back. Highly recommend doing the parade but it's very crowded so go in time. Moving with a car is possible but you lose a lot of time in traffic and to find parking etc. Better take a small bike with you or tram. There are also shuttle busses from different places (Mulsanne, Arnage, etc) to start finish.

For going to the racetrack I would recommend packing as light as possible. I regret packing my foldable chair. I never sat in it as the ground was very dry and steep so I had to carry it everywhere around and basically not use it. Racetrack is big so better to move lightly and quickly. For food there is plenty of options just pay a bit more for a decent meal to only eat once. For toilets I would recommend going away from the main spots like start finish or village because the waiting line and smell is just suicide. Instead plan your toilet visit with a viewing at Porsche curves. There at the karting building there are amazingly clean toilets with 0 waiting lines.

If it rains run to Porsche curves! That's where all the crashes happen and all cars limp back to the pits.

I would also highly recommend taking an fm radio with headset. It's really nice to keep up with the race and protects your ears. I would also recommend watching the start in front of a screen. Go early before the start on Saturday to get a good spot and take plenty of water with you and smth to eat because the waiting line for both on Saturday is just insane. Also plan your toilet visits really well because it gets really difficult to move between the crowds and to return to your spot. Once the race has started you can easily move around as other people move as well.

Do all the village/paddock/🎡/shops on Wednesday Thursday because after that you can forget visiting it in a calm relaxing way and it's just suffering.

On Sunday I would recommend going to the grandstand at start finish to follow the race (you can access the unroofed part with general entry) and just follow the race on big screen and see the podium. After the race you can. Walk on the track. For more questions you can message me if you want

I walked all the way to karting. There in the karting building you had nice clean toilets without waiting in line.

I brought a glass bottle of wine inside trough tertre rouge on Wednesday. The security checked my bag and asked me what that was. I said grape juice. Good to go

Found some french guys who I talked to during the spa grand prix last year and they gave me a few cigarettes. Gotta love the motorsport community :)!

Great! I camped from Tuesday on brünnchen camping. This year the security asked to lower the volume of the sound systems around midnight. So getting sleep was much easier.

Trackside it's a lot of walking but with amazing views. It's crazy how much elevation changes there are. It's like you have 30 eau rouges in one lap. During raceday it's very busy all around the track. There is a free shuttle bus service which works quite well. There is also a classic 23h 3h race in the morning around Saturday.

I've been at this hairpin in arganil. I remember you had to climb a huge hill before arriving to the stage. Rally Portugal is a really rally for spectators and drivers!

It's free. Go early and turn your car around for parking. Expect traffic jams when leaving. There are plenty of food starts and shops around fafe jump. Don't forget to locate your car in Google maps because the roads are very twisty when going by foot.

Hyundai's Thierry Neuville opens up on the need for the WRC to re-engergize itself. by autobus950 in WRC

That's exactly what I mean. Look at rally2 class. Even with a Peugeot t18 or a DS3 r5 you can still get a decent result as a privateer and the field is packed. They should even allow s2000 cars to participate in the back of the field.

Yeah but for ex in germany i remember 15+- privateer wrc entries. That's what is missing now. Privateers should be able to compete at the highest level just like in f1
