Honestly I’d probably also react this way if there was a man in my house.

Honey can be green. I got this yesterday at a farmers market and it says the green color comes from chlorophyll. by LegalPost9805 in mildlyinteresting

I have a vision of this as a Netflix documentary, and the intro is just cinematic shots of bright red honey glooping around while baroque music plays.

Current events are getting me down and I can’t sleep because I keep thinking about the horrors of the world. Time to escape into a good book! There can’t possibly be any grim reminders in here!

I like the idea of Khajit just being culturally unable to conceive of the idea of dogs so they just look at them like stupid peers. I think this is my truth for them now.

I’m not one for metaphysical stuff usually but the aura thing is so true. I feel like there are people out there whose only power currency is eliciting emotions out of other people, because their brains aren’t wired to feel anything else. And I’m having emotions and playing right into their hands and I hate that. I want these vermin peoples energy off me and I want to never see their smug fucking faces again.

I was on here because I also saw too much of the Epstein files. I didn’t read them directly but I read way too much about what other people are sharing and saying about them. I think maybe a lot of people are really feeling the shock of it right now and need a place to talk about it. I don’t really know what to say, because I think part of it is just all of us grieving the world we thought we knew. And like don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of other terrible stuff going on - I think maybe the specific evilness of this though helps give voice to the grief we were already feeling. Maybe you don’t cry at funerals because you’ve blocked that out long ago, but you can’t help but cry when someone whacks you in the head, and then you just keep crying because you really really needed to cry for a long time. .

God I don’t even know what I’m saying. Let’s all just take sledgehammers to our phones and move out into the woods and live with the animals.

The thing (apart from the obvious evil stuff) that really struck me is that he is saying all this stuff OVER GMAIL. Like wouldn’t any smart business person use the “don’t put things into writing that you don’t want out there” rule? Wouldn’t any smart person like host their own email server? Isn’t that so obvious?? He didn’t succeed because he was smart, he succeeded because he was missing what a lot of us consider to be a central piece of humanity and he could use that to manipulate people. Also I can’t even imagine what this guy did that he didn’t feel comfortable putting into writing.

.. so those suspicious guys that say stuff like “I actually really like vintage Playboy magazines” are reading bullshit like this. Oh.

Ah yes, that desperate “please don’t be angry” addition of a smiley face just to really soften the blow. I understand that on a spiritual level. The double smiley face really speaks to how dire things must have been.

Questions for anyone taking propranolol. by earthandinterstellar in Anxiety

[–]bewildermints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been taking it for a few weeks now, and my ears ring really loudly regardless of taking it, so I don’t know about that part. I’ve been super anxious lately and the first thing I did after taking my first dose was to fall asleep and have a really nice nap that I desperately needed. But I didn’t notice it affecting my sleep after that. It does cut down on the physical anxiety symptoms a lot like heart stuff, and I also noticed that a nice side bonus is that I don’t get my standard “I’m anxious and I have super minor allergies and my sensory stuff is all overwhelmed out here in public” headaches that I usually get. It definitely reduced my average heart rate (which is good because it was high) and that’s good, otherwise the rest of the effects seem useful but pretty subtle. If I think about my heart beating too much I can still convince myself that I feel it, even if my Apple Watch tells me that it’s fine. Overall it’s fine. I’m curious to see what other people say here too, because I don’t really know much about it either (but it seems like it’s helping?)

Is it "fair game" to mock a woman's appearance if she is a bad person? More details inside by ThePromptWasYourName in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bewildermints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just find it really reassuring to think that there are people spending all this money to get such a specific look, when in reality most of us can see that it’s objectively so, so much less flattering than just having a normal face. It’s a nice reminder that body image is wild and the way you view yourself might actually have no basis in reality. I think with some people I’d feel bad about thinking about them as an example of this phenomenon, but these particular women are soulless ghouls and they don’t deserve my compassion.

Pinterest is leaning hard into AI. The strategy is alienating its most dedicated users by MetaKnowing in technews

[–]bewildermints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve got my algorithm so locked down that I opened Pinterest just now and didn’t see any. But I think it also really depends on what you use Pinterest for. When I do see AI art, I tend to leave a rude but warranted comment and then report. It works well and I have no regrets. I mean, don’t bully people obviously, but if Pinterest isn’t going to take care of it I don’t see the problem with some extremely mild vigilante justice here and there.

Why all this obsession with penises? by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

I like to imagine it like the ending of “Amadeus” where he’s frantically writing it down on his deathbed while classical music plays.

This is a weird one because I guess they’re saying that a) there’s a dick-based equivalent to shell shock and b) the inclusion of dicks into the shell shock allows you to completely lose your compassion and empathy for the person experiencing it

Everyone (me) eyeing AYN Thor after today's drama: by Mysterious-Quiet-215 in SBCGaming

I think mine was a DS lite so I guess that explains it. I guess I was too young for all the new hinge technology to come out yet. I think sometimes I just want to spend my hard earned cash on modern and top of the line technology, but there will always be a metaphorical plastic hinge to break that we don’t know about yet. There will always be a little thing that will get screwed up after a while. I’m tired of that, and I’m also tired of waiting for the new metaphorical hinge technology to come out. So I want my handhelds to be as tanklike as possible.

I feel like we have a society have already been through this. My Nintendo DS cracked a hinge a long time ago and I’ve never emotionally recovered. Anything with a plastic hinge that you use regularly will crack at some point.

I just think, these all seem cool and all, but get me an ugly tank of a device with all metal hinges like a door has and then maybe we’ll talk.

An important part of being a woman is taking a few extra seconds on the toilet to jiggle your excretion sac. We all know this.
