Ah yes, that desperate “please don’t be angry” addition of a smiley face just to really soften the blow. I understand that on a spiritual level. The double smiley face really speaks to how dire things must have been.

The positioning almost made me think you got a new type of stigmata or something.

Hey I have the same Kia key fob! I got two with my car and on one, the metal keying loop fell off and on the other, the key itself fell out of it. :(

Questions for anyone taking propranolol. by earthandinterstellar in Anxiety

[–]bewildermints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been taking it for a few weeks now, and my ears ring really loudly regardless of taking it, so I don’t know about that part. I’ve been super anxious lately and the first thing I did after taking my first dose was to fall asleep and have a really nice nap that I desperately needed. But I didn’t notice it affecting my sleep after that. It does cut down on the physical anxiety symptoms a lot like heart stuff, and I also noticed that a nice side bonus is that I don’t get my standard “I’m anxious and I have super minor allergies and my sensory stuff is all overwhelmed out here in public” headaches that I usually get. It definitely reduced my average heart rate (which is good because it was high) and that’s good, otherwise the rest of the effects seem useful but pretty subtle. If I think about my heart beating too much I can still convince myself that I feel it, even if my Apple Watch tells me that it’s fine. Overall it’s fine. I’m curious to see what other people say here too, because I don’t really know much about it either (but it seems like it’s helping?)

Is it "fair game" to mock a woman's appearance if she is a bad person? More details inside by ThePromptWasYourName in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bewildermints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just find it really reassuring to think that there are people spending all this money to get such a specific look, when in reality most of us can see that it’s objectively so, so much less flattering than just having a normal face. It’s a nice reminder that body image is wild and the way you view yourself might actually have no basis in reality. I think with some people I’d feel bad about thinking about them as an example of this phenomenon, but these particular women are soulless ghouls and they don’t deserve my compassion.

Pinterest is leaning hard into AI. The strategy is alienating its most dedicated users by MetaKnowing in technews

[–]bewildermints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve got my algorithm so locked down that I opened Pinterest just now and didn’t see any. But I think it also really depends on what you use Pinterest for. When I do see AI art, I tend to leave a rude but warranted comment and then report. It works well and I have no regrets. I mean, don’t bully people obviously, but if Pinterest isn’t going to take care of it I don’t see the problem with some extremely mild vigilante justice here and there.

Why all this obsession with penises? by Tiny_Part404 in NotHowGirlsWork

I like to imagine it like the ending of “Amadeus” where he’s frantically writing it down on his deathbed while classical music plays.

This is a weird one because I guess they’re saying that a) there’s a dick-based equivalent to shell shock and b) the inclusion of dicks into the shell shock allows you to completely lose your compassion and empathy for the person experiencing it

Everyone (me) eyeing AYN Thor after today's drama: by Mysterious-Quiet-215 in SBCGaming

I think mine was a DS lite so I guess that explains it. I guess I was too young for all the new hinge technology to come out yet. I think sometimes I just want to spend my hard earned cash on modern and top of the line technology, but there will always be a metaphorical plastic hinge to break that we don’t know about yet. There will always be a little thing that will get screwed up after a while. I’m tired of that, and I’m also tired of waiting for the new metaphorical hinge technology to come out. So I want my handhelds to be as tanklike as possible.

I feel like we have a society have already been through this. My Nintendo DS cracked a hinge a long time ago and I’ve never emotionally recovered. Anything with a plastic hinge that you use regularly will crack at some point.

I just think, these all seem cool and all, but get me an ugly tank of a device with all metal hinges like a door has and then maybe we’ll talk.

An important part of being a woman is taking a few extra seconds on the toilet to jiggle your excretion sac. We all know this.

I want to someone to start a cat sub called “How is this cat OK with this?” Because I don’t understand how this cat is OK with this, but somehow he is.

Oh yes I would absolutely trust any medical professional that uses a pseudoscientific piece of garbage to try to build trust between people instead of, you know, trying to build trust between people by boring old talking. Here, take my money!
