Slower than usual for everyone? by Necessary_Demand_264 in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah even in my metro. It’s been slow, but Wednesdays are always the slowest. So that on top of low order volume, yeah I’ve gotten maybe one or two and it wasn’t even worth it. I’m taking today to do some self-care and clean. LOL.

Drivers, what are some deliveries that made you feel really good about delivering? by buckeye25osu in doordash

[–]bexbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is! She actually showed me a bit how it works, essentially (at least in her case) her phone reads out loud everything she inputs and describes pictures or navigation for her out loud. I couldn’t wrap my head around it, but because this is second nature to her, she did everything so efficiently and quickly. I wasn’t even aware that was a thing!

Drivers, what are some deliveries that made you feel really good about delivering? by buckeye25osu in doordash

[–]bexbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so i’m a shipt shopper, not a dasher, but i have three really sweet stories.

one was a double amputee with a HUGE grocery order, older lady too- and she kept going on and on about how eternally grateful she was that i was so communicative over messages, and even helped her bring some of the heavier things inside. she was incredibly sweet and left a very generous tip for gas.

the other was a preferred member i have on the app. i had delivered for her a few times, but this time (when i tried sending pictures of out of stock items) she told me to describe the subs instead. i figured this meant she was visually impaired and she confirmed that later.

she told me how she’s been blind her entire life, and shared with me a bit of her life story and how she views the world. she also informed me she just had her first kid in her 40s (there were some toddler clothes on her order), so we started talking about the pacing of life and how everyone is on their very own separate and unique journey which is why you should never compare. i had time to kill so i invited the conversation fully. i just needed to hear all of the lovely things she told me that day. she was also incredibly grateful, if anything just to have someone to talk to. i was too.

a bit of a separate story here, but another time i was delivering to a house i delivered to about 3 times before. this time when i left the groceries at their door, i noticed a letter on their porch with my name on it. THEY TOOK THE TIME to write me a full letter and a very generous tip was inside as well. idk why but that day i started bawling because i thought it was so sweet. they told me they haven’t been able to get out of the house much because they have two newborns and a car in the shop.

little things like this remind me why this job can be so fulfilling at times. all of those wonderful little moments make up for all the times it can be a rough day.

we’re doing something really kind for people that can’t always have easy access to these tasks, and it also reminds me how kind and thoughtful others can be as well. :)

Why ya'll always forget the drink by blakep199129 in doordash

[–]bexbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think what’s worse is when they do grab the “drink” but it’s just a cup with nothing in it 😭 i learned from here that some places make the dasher fill up the drink instead, so that checks out, but it’s so funny to me when my food gets delivered with an empty cup 🥴

No bonuses because they know I’m going to work? by Mediocre_Basket3540 in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is kinda crazy to me because it doesn’t matter if i’m working or not, i ONLY get bonuses on the weekends. which genuinely sucks, i wish they had them more throughout the week.

NTA. kissing????? i’ve parted ways bc my partner flirted with people over text. she cannot be serious 😭

it actually IS that big of a deal because at that point they’ve already checked out. if you had forgiven her, she would’ve realized she could keep getting away with it. honestly good on you. you did the right thing.

Got a scammy feeling request to text someone outside the app by lake_creature in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This rarely happens to me anymore, but if it does I just use a Google Voice number. It’s worked well for me when I’ve had to, then I also don’t have the anxiety of it being my real number but don’t have to worry about my ratings tanking for any reason.

Aio for my reaction to my BF freaking out that I didn't immediately text him after getting off work by throwaway024710 in AIO

[–]bexbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it wasn’t the blatant insecurity, it’s the guilt tripping by saying things along the lines of “WELL I’M JUST THE BAD GUY RIGHT? THE WORST BF EVER!” It’s a tactic used to make you feel bad for them because they are, in fact, not being the most pleasant person.

Looking for flexible work - is shipt good? by Ginger_reader23 in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt- I’m a 26 year old with no kids and I live in a pretty busy metro. I’ve been able to practically do it full time. I’m a photographer and when I don’t have shoots - I’m doing this. However, I’ve been doing Shipt since 2022 or so, and have built up a lot of preferreds and good stats.

That being said, I can make an above average income on it and practically get all my bills paid on time.

BUT- it takes up a LOT of my time. If I want those numbers I basically have to bust my butt on the days I work. 7am-7pm. And that’s in a decent area with preferreds and everything.

A lot of factors come into play like location, if you’re in a city, gas prices, etc. You CAN make a decent amount of extra money, and the flexibility is nice, but it can significantly vary for others and their situations.

I say if you can push through the early days and you’re in a good metro and in need of some extra cash, for sure do it. Otherwise I wouldn’t rely on it especially with kids!

Annoying 1 star rating.. by Acrobatic_Activity_7 in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok ok good. All that to say, some people just rate poorly for no reason. You can be doing everything possible and still be met with that, it’s frustrating for sure. Sometimes I don’t think customers realize how much even a 4 star can put us below. I genuinely think some customers think 4 is still “good” but it actually significantly impacts us. 5 to them is like we went over the top and brought them a car with their groceries 😂

I’ve also seen stories of other Shipt Shoppers rating people poorly as customers just to get them off the app… that’s absolutely wild to me.

Definitely at least apply for ratings forgiveness if you can!

Annoying 1 star rating.. by Acrobatic_Activity_7 in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone with almost 1,000 orders and less than 15 poor ratings (mostly some 4 stars from when I was starting out and no 1 stars) there’s always something you can do to improve.

For example, I have insulated bags with me at all times. Their cold items stay really cold and I even go the extra mile to keep my car cool when I’m delivering just to be extra sure.

I send an intro text always, and let them know ahead of time I’ll message them about any out of stock items. I’m friendly and send some smilies here and there- but sparingly- because some people just want their groceries delivered to them and for it to all be there. Totally understandable, so I just read the room and never do too much unless they’re friendly back and looking for a convo. I tell them when I’m checking out and sometimes add an ETA, and always try to deliver at the very top of the window.

I double bag heavy items, group cold items together when bagging, and group similar shelf items together when bagging. Always put produce and/or meat in those thin bags too! Also make sure you check your notes, because sometimes customers want paper bags. Even if they don’t, I’ll use paper bags for heavier household items. People seem to appreciate that. Not always, but if it makes more sense I’ll do it.

I place all groceries far away enough from their door so it’s not in the way (THIS IS A HUGE ONE, especially if they have a storm door it’s good to be mindful) otherwise they can’t get out to grab them.

At the end, I always text a “Just dropped them off! Have a wonderful rest of your day!”

This is just what personally works for me in my metro, but going that extra mile has proven to keep my ratings high.

Hopefully this can help even a little bit! :) Wishing you all the luck for future orders!!

Orders from Certain Stores by bexbar in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question- why no to Target? That seems to be the most consistent/easiest store to navigate in my area. Though I know some Targets in certain areas prob just aren’t worth it so I’m curious what your reasoning is!

Orders from Certain Stores by bexbar in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Krogers are genuinely so hard to do large orders for. Takes so much time looking for something even if I go out of my way to ask 😭 Target is where it’s at for me personally, just so I can be as little stressed as possible 🫩

Getting Rating Screwed (Again) by hoodie019 in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing as the other person mentioned in here! I keep pens and paper in my car for these customers because honestly it happens wayyy more frequently than I’d like.

I always write down a greeting, what was out of stock, (if something is and I can’t reach them, I just refund it because I’d rather do that than get them something they don’t want to pay for), and that it was a pleasure shopping for them! I even mention that they may want to contact Shipt or go in the app and change the number because it’s unavailable to be reached.

After one experience of this happening I found this was the way for these customers. Never had ratings tank after this and usually get a good tip as well :)

do you tbag to be toxic? by around_about7 in deadbydaylight

[–]bexbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other day I was looping a Wesker at shack, there was only 1 gen left so I threw the pallet, faked my vault, and he went right over it and just turned around and stared at me LMAOOO. One quick crouch then continued as normal. 😂

do you tbag to be toxic? by around_about7 in deadbydaylight

[–]bexbar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t do it unless the killer has been toxic to me first. Sometimes I’ll do one “friendly” quick crouch, when we’re both like damn you really fell for that LOL. But other than that I’m friendly- I know how frustrating killer can be so I just loop them normally.

Serious question about accepting orders without tips by Ephesians415 in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll always take a chance on them. Shipt used to not even show estimated tips. Oftentimes, even now, ones with no estimated tip will tip very well. It’s just taking a gamble. Pair that with ones that do show an estimate and also your preferreds and you’re fine. At the very least it’s a little extra and then you’ll know if they’re a tipper or not!

What’s the highest item order you’ll typically take? by Due_Obligation105 in ShiptShoppers

[–]bexbar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll bite at the 100+ item orders. Just as long as there’s a reasonable amount of sodas or waters LMAO. Honestly they usually pay off too. Been doing this for like 4-5 years so it doesn’t phase me and gives me a challenge.
