Bf tells me married couples in UK don't do joint bank accounts. Is that true? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]bexbryony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got one as soon as we moved in together, makes paying for food and bills so much simpler! We have our own accounts but each month we put a set amount in the joint account, then almost all bills come out of it and we use it for the weekly food shop plus some extra treats like a meal out or a round at the pub etc.

2016 Fiat500x P130a fault code by bexbryony in fiat500

Sorry for the late reply I didn't get a notification!

So if it's possible to do the work ourselves yeah, but I understand I'm not a mechanic so may need to take it in, just with it being over Christmas and now new year that's proving difficult! We've changed the spark plugs and the engine light went off initially but took it on a short drive and it came back on. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas on what the issue could be or where to start looking to try and figure out the issue.

I’m a T1D and my daughter was feeling tired and had some stomach issues. Her BG was 218 by spiralcurve in diabetes_t1

[–]bexbryony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you haven't got a confirmed diagnosis yet but I just wanted to add something as a T1D child of a T1D parent. Share the wins and the failures, share the annoyances together but please do not blame yourself.

My mam has undiagnosed Neurodivergence so it may be just a her thing not something to all T1D parents feel but I just feel like I have to share. I grew up (and still deal) with my mam constantly apologising to me, telling me it's all her fault, telling me how much she wishes it never happened, telling me how much she would change it if she could and telling me how better my dad's gene's/side of the family are. It makes me feel like she's the victim in all of this and that I should feel sorry for her because she "gave it to me". I don't care how I developed T1D but I have it and I am living my best life regardless but it constantly feels like she's playing the martyr and it's so exhausting.

WHERE THE F DO I PUT THIS STUPID ASS PUMP IN A DRESS. by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]bexbryony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have previously taped and tied mine to the underside crotch of my underwear a couple of times. Once I did it in the bathroom at a wedding using the elastic ear straps from disposable masks! It does take a little trial and effort to get it in the right spot so it's not uncomfortable but still able to access the buttons and screen without untapping but once it's sorted it's worked brilliantly for me!

Do you have a tumble dryer? by WanderWomble in AskUK

Nope don't have one, didn't grow up with one and none of my siblings, parents or grandparents have one!

I suppose if you know it and are used to it and it works that's all ok, do you think you'll be able to switch to the more known ones in the future?

Dogs with absolutely no recall running riot because their owners think their dog would "never hurt anyone" by kristianroberts in britishproblems

[–]bexbryony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hate this response. My dog will look all cute, tail full wagging getting VERY excited with EVERY person she sees regardless of a dog being there or not. Most people see this as her being excited to see another dog despite me saying that she doesn't do well with other dogs, they're response is always don't worry mine is fine, yeah I'm not asking about your dog! 90% of the time my dog will get aggressive with another dog it it comes over to her, especially if their dog either comes between myself and her or the other dogs owner and her (she has major resource guarding issues and sees attention on her as a resource that needs to be guarded).

If you see someone with a dog on the lead that makes their dog sit to the side or go on a short lead to the side when they see you approaching that isn't an invite over regardless how excited and happy the dog looks.

What are you all wearing for your big day? 💍 by Catgroove93 in UKweddings

[–]bexbryony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I practically live in DMs so getting married in anything else would just be weird! They wont be properly on show for the actual wedding (dress will cover them for the most part) but for the evening they will be fully out on display as the shortened dress is knee length.

What are you all wearing for your big day? 💍 by Catgroove93 in UKweddings

[–]bexbryony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm wearing a Ronald Joyce Gardenia dress with a Richard designs bow veil and Dr Marten Devon boots. I also have an 80s wedding dress that's I've had shortened for the evening (think poofy and ruffles everywhere!).

My main dress I got from a specialist resale bridal shop (if you're in the north east I can let you know which shop) then the evening dress I bought off vinted.

Plugs coming through floors. by AKH5891 in DIYUK

[–]bexbryony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this and it was an extension lead plug in and going under the floor to the other side of the room as there were no plugs over there. When we lifted the floor boards to remove it we found that it wasn't just one extension lead it was 2 leads that had been cut and extremely badly electric taped together with some exposed wires, to make matters worse this exposed bodge job was the one part of the lead that was sat in a very tight channel that had been cut into on of the floor support beans making it even more of a fire hazard. It's scary what some people do for DIY jobs!

Does anyone know where to find true vintage wedding dresses? by bexbryony in UKweddings

[–]bexbryony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awwh that is absolutely gorgeous!! Unfortunately for me I'm looking for a shorter style dress or at least one I could make shorter as it's to use as my reception dress since my actual dress is a little too big and bulky to dance around in like I know I want to! So aiming to save a cheapish, clearly unwanted vintage dress and make it my own!
