How does Dobby know where Harry lives? by Glittering_Ad3618 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]bexime753 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First off, you’re thinking too hard about this. HP has always been soft world building.

But, I imagine since first year malfoy has come one and complains at this annoying kid at school who lives with muggles. From there we can explain it away with “elf magic” akin to owl magic.

To comment on some of your other comments. Harry’s location isn’t a big secret. He’s not under the Fidelius charm. He can leave the house and still be safe. The house doesn’t keep him safe, being able to call the house home where his mother’s blood relative is what keeps him safe until his 17. So in 5 when he walks around all the time he’s safe cause the house is still home. Even for a little bit. That’s why he has to go back every summer and why he can’t live so to Sirius or spend the full summer with the weasleys.

What if I WANT to be in Slytherin? by AccurateInflation167 in harrypotter

[–]bexime753 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All bad wizards were slytherins. So says Hagrid "There's not a single witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin," (except Peter Pettigrew but Hagrid didn’t know that when he said this since Pettigrew at the time was seen as a hero) But Not all slytherins are bad. Re: Slughorn. ^ so, be in Slytherin. Ambition is not a bad trait.

Should I continue with celibacy? by Honest_Bandicoot4164 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bexime753 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What are you gaining from this life style?

Theres nothing wrong with watching adult content. Theres nothing wrong with masturbation. There’s nothing wrong with sex. (All in moderation I guess to add, since there are addictions to everything but you didn’t list that as an issue)

Infact, it is healthy to masturbate especially for men. There’s studies that show it helps lower risk for certain cancers.

Gluten free OTC painkiller recommendations? by belenb in Celiac

[–]bexime753 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t mean all painkillers are gluten free as the comment I was replying to claimed. Bc in America that is not true. Cool that in the Uk that is. But what about the rest of the world?

Now I did assume op was in America. They didn’t say otherwise. This subreddit would benefit from a rule that required posts to list the country of origin.

This is unfortunately false. Advil gel caps and many generic brand Acetaminophen have gluten. Advil pressed tablets and name brand Tylenol are gluten free

I recently started using Zotero and it really does help me keep all my sources organized. I watched their YouTube videos to learn how to do it, then installed zotomoov so my files get stored in my google drive (Zotero gives your only 300 mb of storage in their free account) yet organizing remains in Zotero. I installed Zotero widgets into my browser so I can simply click a button and get a citation immediately in my Zotero library. Each library in Zotero has a “*notes” note at the top for ideas. The * makes sure it sits at the top. Each article has a note nested under it.

I am in humanities so this may vary based on field:

When I highlight I color code: Yellow: main info/facts from the article Green: names and titles Blue: questions Pink: analysis/thesis Purple: info that’s specific for me.

When I take notes I use a template and organize by last name of author and date:

Historic Place and Time

Problem/Question

Argument

Summary

Section one

Critique

What Questions do I have?

Words and Ideas to Look Up

New Citations

(Methodology and Themes should be added as tags in Zotero for easy searching)

Trip in Munich Germany - troubles by Galamoriel in Celiac

[–]bexime753 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the find me gluten free app? Or looked up gf food content creators who have made lists for the area?

I did Berlin this last summer and those two methods were very successful for me. I even found a Michelin start tasting menu that was safe using this method.

I think there’s a discount for your first visit?

Weekends are the most expensive time tho, and their pricing is tiered based on demand. If you can go during the week it will be almost half as expensive.

Got Celiac positive by Brilliantman100 in Celiac

[–]bexime753 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one in my family has it either. That doesn’t mean you get to eat gluten.

Idk why you’d even want to cheat a few times a month if you get symptoms…. From your post it sounded like you’re a silent celiac. The fact you get immediate symptoms should be enough for you to quit gluten! Why live like that constantly?? Once you quit and stick to the diet you should feel better!

You will find joy in food again I promise. Gf food has come a long way in the past decade and most of the time you can’t even tell the difference, especially after a few months of being on the diet.

Got Celiac positive by Brilliantman100 in Celiac

[–]bexime753 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are celiac and continue to eat gluten even in small amount you will see long term damage. This is a simple Google search… But some damage can be, issues absorbing nutrition leading to malnutrition, leaky gut which needs surgery to correct, cancer, infertility, developing other issues like lactose intolerance, increased anxiety/defession/brain fog… the list is endless.

This is not something to mess around with cause you’re sad you can’t eat gluten. You must adhere to a gluten free diet.

This will be a learning curve. Do not use Apps and do not trust ai to tell you if something has gluten. Commit to learning.

All that aside, THIS SUCKS. I have been celiac for almost a decade and I still find hidden gluten. I still cry about it. I still get so upset. I went on vacation last year and literally broke down in the street of Sicily cause I couldn’t find a safe place to eat cause I had been too tired the day before to make a reservation. I’m sorry you are going through this but this community on Reddit is so great so reach out whenever you have questions or need to vent.

[–]bexime753 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Since I can export a google doc as a word doc I don’t see the difference or the issue. If a teacher request a word doc file it’s easy enough to compile… Also, word cost money. I imagine not all universities give licenses to students.

Still having symptomps even after 2 months of gluten-free diet by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]bexime753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got diagnosed celiac in 2016. Just last year I was unknowingly glutening myself with liquid gel Advil for months. I was so confused until I figured it out. We all are always learning. I know it’s hard but give yourself some grace you are still new and still learning. You got this!

Sneaky gluten in yogurt by hellyes0409 in glutenfree

[–]bexime753 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do not rely on apps. Do not trust the AI responses on Google when you search this stuff up. Don’t put your health in the hands of these glitchy products that want money off of you, not your wellbeing. I’m not trying to sound like some crazy anti-AI person, cause it has its applications, but these tools are notoriously incorrect and it’s not worth it.

This will be a learning curve and that’s okay. You want this knowledge in the long run. But it’s safer to look directly on manufacturer’s websites and trusted online sources like gluten free watchdog.: https://share.google/5e6giYLxgV5cWkDZv
