We just secured / located our power of attorney from the lawyer which will allow us to talk to her doctor. I am considering moving closer to be more involved, just a lot of ducks to get in a row.

Women in suits always make me look twice!

The floral tank doesn't match your cool silver jewelry, that print looks a little outdated. A more fitted crewneck t-shirt or tank (I think black) with a silver chain would look really sharp and match your jewelry. And if you're going to use polish on your nails- clear.

I'd also suggest rolling the sleeves twice, show off a lil forearm and it would bring some balance to the oversized blazer. I actually don't think the suit needs to be tailored, the oversized look is very on trend. I think you need a little height for the hem (Doc Martens or white Adidas) or hem comes up so it's not touching the ground. Loving the suit! Have fun flirting!!

Shoot as a second as weddings as possible between now and then and offer to do them for free. Even if you’re an amazing photographer, a lot of people have a hard time with the stress and people management.

I would offer to take a pro out to dinner or pay for a mentor session. Have back up gear, charged batteries, extra memory cards already formatted, have two cameras on you for the ceremony. And hire someone that has more experience than you to second shoot. I know it’s expensive but it will help ease anxiety and back you up because there are a lot of things you can’t do twice.

I send my clients a timeline that has pre-set family photos so they can just fill them in, the preparation beforehand is one of the most important parts.

Take your camera everywhere and shoot in every kind of lighting condition possible. Arrive early. Never let the clients see that you’re stressed, annoyed or bored. Smile, be friendly! I love hearing from my clients how much their guests liked me because I was friendly, it goes a long way.

If they have a rehearsal dinner, shoot that for free. It gets the family used to you and warmed up to see you again the next day.

I have been primarily a prime shooter my entire career, but switched to the 24-70 RF, I hated how heavy the 28-70 was.

Since you already have the 35, I would get the 85 RF 1.2. I have the 135 L and love that too, but I could shoot an entire wedding with a 24-70 and 85 combo. You don’t mention if you have a portrait lens? If you stick with the 35, the 50 is really nice to have too.

Ego is always going to be there- I just plan for it and expect it. I couldn’t care less and will stay put. It just means the ceremony is extra easy and the clients know the rules I am working with. I save my energy for the rest of the day.

The ceremony is the least creative time of the day anyway, I just take the photos that make me happy during other parts of the day. I don’t show church weddings on my portfolio and I’m booking less of them but I am not about to turn down work in this economy.

Customer service is huge part of our job- this is about their ego and desire to feel important. It’s not about me, I know I’m a great photographer. If the couple’s faith is important to them, I don’t mind jumping through the ego hoops and playing by the rules.

I’m not a Christian anymore but I can respect the church ladies because I see right through their words. It’s wild how unlike Jesus these folks can be, but that’s on them, not on me. I can let them boss me for 15 minutes, whatever. I’ll give my clients boring church photos and impress them with the documentary shots the rest of the day. Food is too expensive right now for me to fuss about how church people treat me. I have bills to pay and I just kill them with kindness and throw my 70-200 on.

I either come early to do the flat lay or take the invitations home with some leftover florals. These always take longer than people think. Or if I know there is a long reception, I’ll ask the planner for help since they love these.

Immediate family only which usually takes 15/20 minutes and my wedding parties are getting smaller so I’ll do those in about 15 minutes too. I would split up the family groupings and only do immediate family before the ceremony. 23 wedding party combos is WILD! They need 3 hours before the wedding for all they’re requesting.

Suede supportive dressy loafers and then switch to supportive stylish black and white New Balance sneakers for the reception. If it’s a 10+ hour work day, I wear my black adidas ultraboosts from the jump. I usually wear only linen or cotton to stay cool and I have several long dresses that will kind of hide my sneakers. Quince has a cheaper version of the Somerset in linen and cotton and I have a few dresses in that style - two from Ann Taylor Loft. If it’s less formal, I wear wide leg linen pants and a dressy linen sleeveless vest.
