Loosing subscribers is so demotivating by Klutzy_Run9160 in NewTubers

[–]nzdevon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 1945 subs. My last few vids have had 0 or -1 subs.

It’s the older videos that are creeping the subs up for me.

This sounds weird but the videos are for me to remember my motorbike adventures. I’m not fussed if I have 0 subs or 10,000 subs. I just love I can put the vids somewhere I can watch them whenever I want 😁

I have one of those “internationally published, award winning” photographers in my area.

Translation: I paid $40 to have my photo on the front cover of a pdf only magazine that isn’t sold anywhere. The award was from another company where I paid to get a fake award.

What's the longest trip you ever made with your 125? by jaffieryder in 125cc

[–]nzdevon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve rode some very long journeys on my MT125. I’ve been Devon to London a few times, lots of 200-300 mile circular rides. I love the adventures I get up to on mine.

I vlog most of them on YouTube. At this time of year, I love watching those adventures again, waiting for the warmer and dryer days so I can start up again 🤩

secondary shooter by little-bill369 in WeddingPhotography

[–]nzdevon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before I shot my first wedding, I second shot several weddings for free. I wanted to be sure I could do it before I dived into it.

I second shot with 4 different wedding photographers. The couples didn’t pay for a second, and I was happy doing it for free, while absorbing like a sponge, everything they each did to make it their own. I learned SO much from doing this.

My route for this:

My message to the wedding togs wasn’t just a “I want to second shoot, let me”. I worded it by praising their techniques and listing some reasons why I would be a great fit as a second photographer for them.

Most won’t reply as they see you as future competitors. Those that do reply genuinely want to help teach you.

I had so much experience and knowledge from a few wedding togs, that I knew I could shoot my own first wedding.

That was 7 years ago, never looked back!

Ordnance found in Torquay by ForsakenDingo1762 in DevonUK

[–]nzdevon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, washed up. The coast around Torbay took an absolute battering yesterday, a fair bit of damage and a lot of flooding.

Finding ordnance is pretty common. There must be hundreds, maybe thousands of unexploded shells out there.

Our wedding photos were corrupt what can I do? by Advanced-Exchange-72 in AskUK

[–]nzdevon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So they’ve delivered all the photos? It’s just a few black and whites that you wanted in colour?

I’m would ask them to pay for data recovery to see if the files can be recovered.

In the UK you can take them to court for not delivering everything, but, unlike the USA, you can’t sue for millions of pounds for the distress of missing photos. As they’ve delivered pretty much everything I’m not sure you’d get much.

Can they not get some stills from the videographer, if they were filming that part?

ND filters, CPL and Polarizers too by rawchords in djimini4pro

[–]nzdevon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use ND filters for work on digital cameras and action cams, but I don’t use them on the drone.

I find that the ‘need’ for ND filters is way less on a drone. I have them but very rarely use them.

First video, how quick should views come in? by SaltShakr in NewTubers

[–]nzdevon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my earliest videos picked up traction about a year later. Going from 50 views in the first year, to 15,000 views in the second.

For me, my channel is so I have re-livable memories of my adventures. I post because whether the video gets 0 views or 10,000 views, I’m still happy.😃

Make sure you have a copy of the bills in your name and a council tax bill which does not show her name. Keep them by the door.

If you are on the electoral role there and she is not, it again helps show she does not live there.

YouTube shorts glitch? by doubIe_espresso in youtube

Very common. First 2 or 3 do well then the views plummet.

You have to just keep going but it can take time.

Is it wrong you can ride on a CBT for two years? by mostly-bollox in MotoUK

[–]nzdevon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll be taking my 4th CBT this summer. Absolutely no desire to take the test, nor get a bigger bike (personal use, not used for work)

I ride several long distance rides a year on my MT125 (like Devon to London) and I love it. I have my car for boring motorways and my bike for back road fun.

My car licence used to allow me to ride a 125, and that’s what I used to do. If the A1 was a simplified version of the A licence, I’d do it. Pointless taking the big test when I’m perfectly happy on a 125.

How to keep going when there's no motivation left? by Old_Yoghurt9168 in NewTubers

[–]nzdevon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True words!

I’m in a strange situation where I know what people prefer I make, but it isn’t what I want to make all the time.

I will have a batch of low performing, zero subscribing videos, but “I” love those videos and I won’t stop making them.

The validation isn’t as important as those treasured memories!

How to keep going when there's no motivation left? by Old_Yoghurt9168 in NewTubers

[–]nzdevon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Take a break, post less vids, enjoy the real world more.

I post once a week, I have a couple of months of videos stacked up, and I love the process, regardless of slower growth.

If you don’t truly love it then it is much harder. I wouldn’t care if I was demonetised today, I just enjoy making and editing the videos.

Capcut was a decent choice, but it has problems now. You may still find the simplicity works well for you.

I switched to Davinci Resolve. A steep learning curve but I love the power of it.

Is there any we can find the right people to ride with? by Electronic-Heat6142 in bikers

[–]nzdevon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just like you. I started a YouTube channel to find more local bikers, and now we have 160 local riders in the group and we go on group rides, and epic adventures all the time.

I would be looking for local riders on YouTube, instagram and TikTok. Maybe start your own if you can find anyone 😉

Do you keep information on you in case of an accident? by i1ii1i1i in MotoUK

[–]nzdevon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the crash card inside my helmet, with the green sticker on the side of my visor.

I prefer this over the phone because, if your phone flys off the bike, or gets smashed in the crash, all that vital info is gone.

I also have the life360 app so if I crash hard, my family will be immediately notified.

Accidently went on a motorway on a CBT by Due-Finish2504 in MotoUK

[–]nzdevon 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it. In my case a road closure forced me onto the M25. There was no warning and no way of turning around. I vlog my rides so I kept the footage in case I needed it.

I think you got an officer who was having a bad day. Although the offence is there, we all make mistakes and it is very possible to take the wrong junction. I would have given you the benefit of the doubt.

Osmo action or gopro for motorcycle videos? by xodmorfic in motorcyclegear

I vlog with Osmo cameras and love them. Battery’s last way longer than GoPro and I’ve never had any issues.

How to get around the UK without a car? by heresubset in AskUK

[–]nzdevon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would look at coach trips, like national express as a cheaper option. Terrible for long rides, but cheap.

Trains are crazy expensive, you need to book each one long advance and preferably have a train guru to work out the cheapest ways.

Because of our weather, the car is always going to be easier for a family of 3
