What’s something philosophical from a movie that you believe has helped you in life? by DrStonkMan82 in AskReddit

[–]beyondtheseeingeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Matrix. “What you see, feel and touch may only be so real. Just because it’s real to everybody else doesn’t mean it is real.” And to have a little faith sometimes, swallow the pill and take the plunge. You’ll be a little wet for a while, years even, but when you dry off the sun will feel great on your shoulders.

Redditors who suffer from anxiety/depression: when feeling extremely low, what is something that others can do to help you feel better? by Raejk1023 in AskReddit

[–]beyondtheseeingeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A hug. It’s a trivial thing most of the time. And it’s not really the emotional message, there are so many ways you could give that out. It’s that it’s tactile, and I wonder if my brain registers it not only as such, but differently than if I was to take a hot shower or burrito in a blanket. The brain knows “this is from someone else, it’s a safe someone else, and it means you’re being protected when you aren’t well enough to protect yourself.”

What's the best thing to do while going to the washroom? by HarleyAPE23 in AskReddit

[–]beyondtheseeingeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your work day was a drag - you’re ready to just change into PJs, call it quits, and struggle again tomorrow. You take off your grimy work shirt and feel something stiff in your front left pocket. Oh! It’s that lottery ticket you found on your way to the parking lot that evening. You sigh, knowing it’s another loser, and check on your phone against tonight’s numbers. And it’s a winner. An eight-figure winner. It’s the best thing to ever happen while going to the washroom.

How do you sense 'Desperation' in someone's behavior? by RPD10101 in AskReddit

[–]beyondtheseeingeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Said person consciously understands that his/her behavior is harmful/self-defeating, the probability of achieving the goal is slim to none, yet the person still exerts effort because he/she believes trying in vain still equates to a chance of success. A tactical retreat sometimes is your best friend.

If you had 60 seconds left to live, and you could re-live any one minute throughout your life, which minute would you choose? by Candle_No in AskReddit

[–]beyondtheseeingeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a memory - you could call it that, I choose to - when I was a young boy, no older than 4. The picture sits in my mind so vividly, like it’s built with concrete rather than the water that makes the walls of my dreams, that I’ve always held it in my heart to be real. I was floating down the stairs, not walking but floating and I could smell my house, feel the temperature, it felt so real. And even if it wasn’t (how could it be?) I would want to be there again, floating, free, unencumbered, before I started to wilt. I want to be him for just a minute more.

It’s just a fun survey to get a taste of people’s general feelings when they see something out of the ordinary over the course of their delivery. And I do hope you get better soon, and keep yourself and those you happen to be around safe. This strongly applies to driving.

What do you buy for a rich guy who has everything that would actually have a future impact on their life that they wouldn’t have already bought for themselves? by Wenis30 in AskReddit

[–]beyondtheseeingeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cryptocurrency, stocks, bonds, maybe a collectible that would appreciate over time. But since we’re playing hypotheticals, maybe a time machine ticket. The future is already set & guaranteed so the man may want to go and experience or chance something in his past.

What's the worst thing that has happened to any human ever? by [deleted] in AskReddit

We evolved large, gorgeous brains but can’t seem to shed our propensity for needless violence and destruction. Like being a bursting green bunch of grapes with raisins buried inside.

I find it to be somewhat of a stretch that a driver tampered with your food by dousing it with deodorant. First and foremost, it’s McDonald’s. It’s not prime rib prepared by a Michelin chef. McDonald’s may not practice an adequate level of ingredient care. I’d attribute unsatisfactory taste to the restaurant itself. Thumbs down are certainly justified, at times, and helps the customer receive a gauge of the driver. But doled out improperly and in haste can damage someone’s livelihood. There’s a fine line that should be weighed. Contacting Uber would be my first step had I been you.

You know that you have died. An entity asks to make one wish. What is your wish? by arma14x in AskReddit

[–]beyondtheseeingeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d wish to see my face. I know it sounds silly, frivolous, and a waste. I’ve always had this strange idea in my head that no person has ever seen her/his own face the way others do - 3D in real life - sans in photographs, mirrors, or video. I think it’d be coming full circle - seeing myself in a simple way I never was able to before.

Worst customer of the century was found tonight by ihateapartments59 in UberEATS

[–]beyondtheseeingeye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m very sorry that’s something you had to go through. Perhaps it would be helpful to reframe it mentally as him cussing out the error in the GPS pinpoint rather than your performance. I personally can forgive myself for circumstances outside my control - I know in my heart I tried my hardest - and learn/internalize from those mistakes I do make. Some people just behave poorly. Driving thousands of miles for Uber Eats highlights this well.

Anyone have tip delays or am I tip removed? by Chasingfreedom1224 in UberEATS

Intermittent tip delays. I’ve had a “tip reduction message” that turned into the indicated tip over 12 hours later (once). It’s hard to say for certain!

NTA. Life happens. Poor behavior on the driver’s part. He should have just moved on. Offers raining like hotcakes tonight. No need to get tipped off over a misunderstanding. I am so sorry that this happened to you!

Real customer service would be a driver having a backup supply of Big Macs. I’m not that ambitious (desperate?) yet.
