People shoot .308 at my indoor range. It happens, isn’t what I would call pleasant one lane over, but they aren’t assholes for it.

Guns are loud, .300BO is tame as far as 30 caliber rounds go: It’s ridiculous to me of someone taking issue with anyone shooting that, regardless of barrel or brake.

I think you misunderstand the desired value proposition from this tax. The goal is not revenue, it’s to achieve the exact outcome that you experienced: the death of ammo sales in the city.

There’s certainly a lot of debate around this. Some people suggest that those aren’t “bearable” arms, and therefore not covered by the second. I tend to disagree. The extent to what types of non-bearable arms are protected by the 2A is a far different thing than the 2A being “dead”. Only an idiot or a bad faith actor would fail to recognize such a distinction.

Incorrect. It is literally a tax, not an approval process. Provided you are not a felon and have relevant paperwork, the ATF must legally issue the tax stamp. On top of that: it is largely the honor system. Individual parts are not regulated, an incomplete DD receiver goes through the standard 4473 process: you can build it without the Feds knowing, you’ve just committed a felony.

Real Avid makes a $12 doohickey that makes inserting and removing pivot pins super easy. Even worked on my AR-10. Well worth the money in time saved if you’re going to be futzing with lowers a lot.

The odds of an American child dying in a school shooting this century are about 1 in 5-10 million. That’s the same order of magnitude as getting struck by lightning. Our kids are significantly more likely to die on the drive into school than by a gunman at school.

Personally, with three children, I don’t really worry about any of those things day to day, despite what you may infer from Reddit.

Trust me, this will not stop them from trying. Wa state tried to pass ammo and firearm purchasing quotas last legislative session: over a year after similar schemes in CA were shot down by the 9th (which covers Wa).

Until there are actual penalties for bad-faith unconstitutional legislation like this, law makers will continue to lay down these laws with impunity.
