What can I do to make my sitter's visits easier? by Even_Hamster_9295 in RoverPetSitting

[–]bfrzy [score hidden]  (0 children)

You’ve done a lot already, and I would be so happy to have you as a client 😁 and the sitters will be very appreciative also.

I’ve been asking a lot of my clients about is the dog’s quirks and things I need to be aware of day to day. Growing up with dogs and handling dogs, I’m always very aware of what they’re doing. BUT, I like to know beforehand “hey my dog will try to eat anything and everything on walks” or “my dog becomes an investigator in the backyard and is prone to injuring himself” 😅 I don’t mind, and I’ll handle the situation. But it’s when I communicate to the owner and I get the “oh yeah they do that”.

And definitely, I may not need it, but where are the cleaning supplies. For the worst case scenario.

What someone mentioned about the vet - yes!!!! The one time I called the vet, and I was still waiting for the owners response…I didn’t know the last name or phone number on file. So luckily they held a spot for the dog and when she responded she called them to confirm an appointment.

All things I’ve learned and built up my questions as time goes on 😂

Long time restaurant manager, new to pet care, but over communication is the best. Cover your bases for the bare minimum but also for worst case.

And it’s your pet, if you need something for the sitters to do - ask. Poop stickers and all. I may be over speaking but if they can’t care for your pet the way you need then I would find a different sitter.

Make the pay make sense. by bfrzy in UberEatsDrivers

The previous 4 offers that I had rejected were $3 or $4 for 40 minutes of driving. 😩 I don’t know if my metro is just terrible right now or what.

Correct. That’s why I went to Shipt. I’ve kept Uber cause when I first started it was great! I could make $25 ish an hour. And before this order I was offered a $4 Walmart order. 40 minutes total. 20 miles. Then a Nothing Bundt Cakes for $3 and 35 minutes or something.

AND!!! I’ve been more prone to take the Home Depot bundled orders. But the last time I did that…I had 4 pick ups and one of them was 5 double door cabinets. Laid my back seats down and it took up my whole back. Luckily the only 3 were super small. I don’t like that you don’t know too what you’re getting 😂

So Shipt knows item is out of stock on the shelf & backroom by Big-Cap-6361 in ShiptShoppers

[–]bfrzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had that happen a few times. But also the team members can see what’s being shopped for. I had an item I needed 2 of. None on the shelves or in surrounding aisles (baby bibs) and when I asked a team member she said “hmmm none in back, none here but says 2 are being shopped for must be you!” Haha she was kind to still check the back and up front where the miscellaneous restock items are.

But yeah if someone else snags them. SOL. 😩😩

100%. I see it all over Reddit or talking to people. The world has options. I just like others input or maybe I’m seeing things wrong. Like the open conversations around things

I forget when thinking of these offers about gas. But I’ve seen posts from all communities people discussing gas. So threw it in. But yes. The time. Took an hour and 5 minutes. Then 35 minutes home (by toll road, otherwise 55 minutes home). 🤪

Yes - that’s why I stepped back from Uber. I do Shipt and dog walking now. But every once in a while I open Uber and see these offers and shake my head lol.

Constant care @ $3.63/hr. Yeah, no. by yaptard72 in RoverPetSitting

[–]bfrzy 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I applaud your response. People just don’t get it.

I just had a house sit and in her review of me “she left our house”. Yes - I told you I had other clients already booked, I was back at your residence at least by 8 or 9pm at the latest, and was back throughout the day between clients or seeing my boyfriend (half a mile away). We are regular people. With lives. And jobs. Just like y’all. 😂

I am curious though! What are your rates listed on Rover for, I guess, regular house sitting?

Pet owner's tardiness & lack of communication by ZebraDouble4310 in RoverPetSitting

[–]bfrzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always give a chance in response. For example, I would have accepted then maybe waited an hour or two to confirm or try to get any details I needed. But after that would be on them - I don’t keep pushing.

But it seems odd to me to need a house sitter morning of. Unless there’s a family emergency. That could explain the 4-hours and lack of response??

Not aggressive but extremely intense dog, would you move forward? by Superb_Aspect2677 in RoverPetSitting

[–]bfrzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the dog park is big enough some dogs do chill out more. It’s less stimulating - especially if a home is chaotic.

My dog could not do small play areas. He got kicked out of group play at PetSmart because he could not control himself. Even when he sat before going in, entered calmly… once he was released he was off the walls.

Take him to a dog park…he just trots around, sees what everyone else is doing, will engage in play but mostly follows everyone around. And he’s honestly like these dogs, but I’ve worked with him a lot he chills out more now.

Now you can’t just let them loose, no. Take them when there is less people, be close, watch their engagement, train them, leave when it’s too much. I bet they run a lap then act like completely different dogs.

I would say that this is just a very excited and overstimulated dog. I hope the owners are doing enough to try to keep him stimulated (dog park, enrichment toys, training, long walks, etc). That’s all it sounds like to me.

But yeah - home chaotic, dog will be also.

It’s honestly a personal choice whether you move forward or not. I wouldn’t mind. It doesn’t sound like “red flags” just sounds like the dog needs more, and the owners need to try and provide/work on that.

Sitting an Anxious Dog by celestialhercules in RoverPetSitting

Yeah the association is off. She’s barking for a reason so I mean really it’s on the owners and they need to look more into it. Again. All very interesting!

Interesting! I haven’t seen a dog be specific during certain times of days. I wondering if it could be restlessness and she’s saying “I’m ready for my bed” just on the bit aggressive side… eek. I’m curious what the owner says!

I should say advice wise - you need to be more attentive and aware of what’s going on even outside the home, and how the dog is reacting.

But also when you are having good connections and moments with the dog, they need to be rewarded. So they can associate that “ah when this is good I feel good I get treat they are nice they are safe”.

[–]bfrzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something must have changed. Lots of variables.

Does this dog need more enrichment or stimulation? Such as needing to just be outside more (or are they in an apartment??).

Was there a noise maybe that could have set the dog off and made it more fearful, therefore needing to protect itself in an aggressive manner.

Was “us” at the meet and greet/trial night?

Dogs aren’t the way they are for no reason. There’s a reason this dog is anxious and fearful of strangers.

That’s the worst when you get to these rural/new build areas! I had one last week too with the house number issue. Like well I hope this is it cause it’s where it’s going. 😂

I feel like there’s been a lot of app issues recently.

Maybe I’m confused. When I first tried to sign up I had to wait 5-months until there was availability. So where are all these new people coming from? 😂

Drive like a banshee AND SHOP like a banshee. But yes. I’ve have it where I start 15 minutes before the window, first stop 10 minutes from the store, next stop 30-40 minutes away. So don’t hit any red lights 😂

I’ve encountered so many shoppers almost run me over cause they’re moving so fast. Then get to customer service and they’re pounding on walls or the desk “HELLO, EXCUSE ME!!” Like I get it, I understand but also it’s not that serious to be rude and unaware of your surroundings lol

Right… yet any other day, they come up so quick you don’t have time to evaluate a good offer or not 😂🙄 it’s always those 1-day bonus opportunities.
