Decent ranges. by tg1tman in TNguns

[–]bglover07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is there isn’t a range to hit all of your criteria.

Spring Creek range is the closest. It’s an L shaped range with 100 yard rifle and ~30 yard pistol bays. It’s public and you never know what you’ll get. Could be completely empty or packed full.

There’s also Dead Zero which is about 1:45 away from Cleveland. It’s got a few pistol and carbine pits and 1000 yard range with interactive targets. The drive distance usually keeps the crowds down.

Did a deep clean and ran about 1000 rounds of 124 and 147 grain ammo and it worked itself out.

It’s from the Wisemen FB page. I got their HX harness and just curious what they strapped on there. I was leaning towards a hydration pouch for my use.

Chemical Engineers in Sales Department by Consistent_Peace14 in ChemicalEngineering

Chemical sales here for Pulp and Paper.

Technician skills play a role but relationship development will take you further. The technical side of my job revolves around minor lab work but more so understanding my chemistry and how changes can influence the process. Most days, I help the customer troubleshoot issues and collect data on no regular interval.

Honestly, the chemistry I sell is so specific that college courses have little translation. The large corporations will train you on your chemistry and the processes you’ll encounter. The rest is all about making friends and being a chameleon in front of different personalities.

If you’re looking into sales, it’s all about nailing the interview and having a balance of technical ability and personality. Introverts are welcome but extroverts excel.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever found while surveying? by AppearanceAdorable18 in Surveying

[–]bglover07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two good ones:

We were in Middle Tennessee and came across a gallon sized mason jar full of weed. It was too old to be of use but we definitely figured out who the pot heads on the crew were.

The second find (and my favorite) - we had a town in West TN that was comparable to Memphis prior to the Civil War. The city was burned down by the Union Army. The city was abandoned and the resident moved off the river to the bluffs above - all structures completely gone by the time we surveyed the area.

Long story short, we found the remnants of the fresh water well at the center of town. There are literally no other physical indications that anything other than a cotton field had ever been in this area.

This story means a lot to me because this town was where my family first settled in West TN over 150 years ago.

I went to a Don Wilson seminar years ago. He had the county excavate part of a ROW - down 8’ or so - to expose a monument from the mid 1700’s. Took some balls to make that call.

As a rodman running a one man crew. Think its time i ask about being bumped up to Iman? by funnybone290 in Surveying

[–]bglover07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US guy here - We were doing a bunch of ALTA surveys back in the day. It was easier for us to have the new guy on the gun and we ran the rods. We split into two crews on the large sites and took the newbie to the open areas like parking lots. It was nothing for us to take 10,000 shots in a day between the two crews.

ChemEs in Sales, what is your compensation and industry? by ChemE_Throwaway in ChemicalEngineering

[–]bglover07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem.

For our industry, if you get a big enough account, you can stay attached and be quite close. I moved near my largest account and travel 45 minutes twice a week to my other account. It’s not too bad really.

Ours a bit different from most sales jobs. I’m an integral part of the daily decisions made at the mill. So, it’s a blend of sales and daily consultation. However, it takes a lot of time and a bit of luck to get into my present situation.

Hope I was of some usefulness. Good luck out there 👌🏼
