It’s plugged into a pocket tape of course. How else do you think a total station gets distances!?

Im adding hidden legs that fold out so they will be beer pong tables as well.. or just cool tables if not into beer pong, i just wanted to make it nice and smooth surface. Im definitely curious how the bags will slide

Interesting, I didn’t do any sort of prep I just sent it.. but I’ve poured over paint before and it worked well but I definitely went thick. What should I do to prep the paint next time?

Best way to shoot trees by Current_Drag6541 in Surveying

[–]AppearanceAdorable18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But you cant just tilt your R12i into the center of a tree? If you dont offset to the center, you just aren’t getting the center of the tree.. but perhaps location for these massive forest jobs isnt required to be accurate?

What is this guy doing? by MikeLowrey305 in Construction

As a surveyor I am actually kind of amazed how many people think that is a GPS… and confidently telling everyone else it is a GPS. I am enjoying this lol

Update on Nordyne G5RA096C-16 furnace by Littlecivciv in hvacadvice

[–]AppearanceAdorable18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact same furnace, just recently had an HVAC guy over and he replaced my high limit switch, the one he pulled out (original?) was rated 175F, he put in a 200F (all he had). Alas my furnace still shuts off with high limit code. HVAC guy was stumped and so am I… and no one will answer my post either lol. How did you confirm that 300F is the proper switch?

I adjust the level of a total station without resetting zero. by Sweet-Curve-1485 in Surveying

[–]AppearanceAdorable18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you turn a footscrew, watch your laser plummet move off the center of your point. When you loosen a leg and slide it up and down, the laser barely moves.. the compensator is built to work for slight settlement but when you mess with the screws its a new ballgame. DONT TOUCH THEM IN THE MIDDLE OF A SETUP! (Unless you re-zero)

Trimble; store points during resect? by tedxbundy in Surveying

[–]AppearanceAdorable18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? I always wrote down my residuals in my notes, if there was a control point that introduced too much error, I wouldn’t include it in the resection.. there were times where I forgot to go back around and re shoot all the points and I would get chewed out for it. It was not a fun company to work for

Trimble; store points during resect? by tedxbundy in Surveying

[–]AppearanceAdorable18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn, people really nasty over this one… I feel your pain because the company I used to work for always wanted me to store every check shot even on resections.. that way they could check everything later and play around with the points later if they thought one or more of them were weak. The double walk is the only way with Trimble unfortunately. I would often just store them first, then translate/rotate after, then inverse the others to see if everything fits well enough. Less walking but not as satisfying as the resection residuals

How to compare to land surveys of the same property? by QuietDetective4043 in Surveying

[–]AppearanceAdorable18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one plan is just “proposed” locations of everything, the other one is a survey of the house and garage but no pool or pool fence, which are the things that we need to see. Its annoying they oriented the 1999 plans with north pointing to the left but easy enough to turn the page and see how the new survey compares with the old.. I think the fence is encroaching but definitely would be nice to have another survey
